Not sure... been a while since I've seen it. But when I hear that phrase, I instantly think of the little girl in Poltergeist.

As a side note (not a threadjack but an incredible simulation), did you hear the Bootsy Collins radio interview on Memorial Day? They failed to mention that he's 60 years old now, but judging from the interview the guy is still the whacked-out freaknik he was in 1972.

Those look more like supercells than lenticular clouds. Sigh.

Lenticular clouds don't have the precipitation coming out of the updraft core. Lenticular clouds don't, in fact, have an updraft core.

There's a lenticular cloud in my living room right now.
I blame the three bean salad I had for breakfast.

As with most paranormal "science", this article is rooted in ignorance and misperception. The cloud in the photo is NOT a lenticular cloud. Lenticular clouds are formed over mountains as air rises, cools, water condenses, and then evaporates as the air sinks and warms after passing over the mountain. The cloud above is a storm cell, formed by rotation, and the weather condition from which tornadoes arise.

And of course, there is nothing extra-terrestrial about either phenomenon. It's just an example of powerful Hollywood cinematic imagery from Close Encounters and other movies creating a modern folklore in popular culture. You would be just as scientific if you asked for Zeus or Thor sightings.

By the way, storm cell clouds like this, contrary to the article, are VERY common in the US Great Plains, and relatively rare in the mountains. The fact that they have some superficial similarities is merely fodder for the writer's parasitism of the gullible. The only thing "para" about the subject is the human parasite writing the article.

// Just ask me nicely, and I'll tell you what I REALLY think.

That's why, when lenticular clouds are spotted and filmed, they invariably pop up on the web labeled as "UFO mothership" clouds rather than the awesome, natural spectacle they truly are. So what is this article about?

YEAH! Can't we all agree that these clouds were created by Jesus and not by some imaginary UFOs?!

So, I guess this Tom Rose idiot is a Farker? And since we suffer through his inane drivel on a regular basis, apparently insta-greened, I assume he's a Mod? How about every link to his douchey blog or literary diarrhea like this automatically gets the stupid tag. Deal?

Listen, Tom, whatever it is you think you're doing, stop. It isn't working, shut it down.
