I don't know why they're bothering to clamp down. Most of the rumors you hear are wrong or fabricated. Just like most of the derp you read in these threads.

/apparently the 65% of tablet buyers who have an iPad are all sheep who lined up launch day. That must have been some lineup.

Schematic?

CAD drawings of physical cases do not a schematic make....

Yes, because we need Mr. Jobs telling the people designing the circuit boards that they look ugly and need to be re designed.

Now ignore me while they make sure the OS does not support flash and does not have consumer replaceable batteries.

*This above may be outdated information.

/No I don't think I have one apple product, because they are too expensive and too properiety. And they are not what I call a nerd-friendly product.

Apple itself does not leak. But Apple's manufacturing partners are leaking more frequently than ever. It's as though they've lost any fear that Apple will punish them because Apple has been growing so much, Apple can't afford to lose manufacturing capacity and fail to meet demand. Is every manufacturer in the world that is capable of making Apple products currently doing so?

Flash is dead and consumer replaceable batteries just mean bigger, bulkier with less actual charging capability.

Is anyone else sick of the phrase "double down" yet? It's a dumb phrase that needs to go back to poker where it belongs.

Are you sure about that? I think if you don't allow flash to start on a website you are going to get quite a bit of nothing.

I have not heard that thing about the batteries before. To me it seems like just another way to make sure your electronics brick when out of date.

There are quite a few android phones the same size are thinner than the Iphone with replaceable batteries.

Well, yeah, I am sure Flash is dead - Adobe gave up development. And speaking a the owner of a Flash-capable Android Tablet, it's not very valuable to my web surfing.

At what loss of battery life? Tons of good Android phones are hobbled by batteries that won't go a full day.

You're right... in my disgust at the phrase, I said the wrong card game... It still needs to go away.

Did a quick google, flash on mobile devices is less supported or it is going in a different direction of support for web pages that use moving video. Looks like Apple finally made an impression on the mobile market. On desktops and laptops flash is not going away so quickly. That is if I understand the trend right anyway.

Apple has their own vision of the web and some people accept it, some people don't.

/Right now Apple is having major input onto the early development of the mobile net. Much more then Microsoft ever did when they were trying to plug the use of Internet Explorer a few years back.

All you need to know is the next iphone will be ugly, slow, WAY overpriced.. and have a horrible operating system.. same as all older iphones.. Yet will sell millions to the lemmings:)

The day i sold my iphone and got a galaxy2 was a great day:)

In some respects Apple, Google, Adobe and Microsoft want an "open internet built on standards compliant technology" as it's best for their businesses; at least according to the press releases.

The truth is each company does want this just so long as it's built on THEIR 'open' and 'standards compliant' technologies which may or may not interoperate with anyone elses stuff.

In some respects Apple winning would be no different to Google winning, we've just got to make sure we're buying in to the lesser of the evils as one of these companies is bound to win out overall.

My own pet theory on Apple is that they're kinda busted in the medium term unless they can branch off in a new direction. We're reaching the point with phones (and even tablets) that we reached with digital cameras where the latest generation stuff just isn't worth consumers upgrading, and what starts to happen is that the competition becomes more about price than features.

For instance, I will never buy another iPod. My Classic and my wife's Mini do what we need. If they die, I won't buy £100+ iPods when I can buy a Sansa Clip with an SD card for about £50.

My Nexus S is not as quick as my wife's Galaxy S2, but I'm really not itching for an upgrade. No, I ain't going to pay out £500 just to get 10% javascript performance improvement.

Well, it's true. Kind of.

iDevice batteries are little more then foil bags filled with battery guts. Since they aren't removable you don't need them to be durable, they'll always be protected by the case.

A removable battery has a hard shell around it to protect the battery from sharp things and idiots. Theoretically this space used for the shell could be used instead for battery guts if the battery wasn't removable.

Of course, physical size is not exactly a great indicator of energy density.
