I think the chickens that laid those things deserve alot of the credit.

I think Fabergé laid them himself. That's why he is famous.

So people trolls can whine about how Google is "unamerican".

It's not the first time, it certainly won't be the last.

They couldn't be bothered to do anything, other than what they did do.

Also, after looking for what they did, it seems that people are quite upset that they didn't put up a giant American flag with Uncle Sam beating the crap out of a terrorist while f*cking Marilyn Monroe.

Oh. I'm pretty sure that was to celebrate the day the yellow ribbon was invented and tied to something. It had nothing to do with Memorial Day because Socialism and Jesus.

Am I, like, missing something? Is there someone actually biatching about this? Some article that the link should actually go to?

Or is this just the Subby's beef? A joke, I seriously hope. Not a good one, no, but better than getting your panties in a twist over Googles main page design...

Especially since as stated, Google HAD a memorial day design yesterday apparently. I wouldn't know, I use Chrome so I rarely even see the main page.

/Asinine tag for YOU Subby?

2012-05-30 10:45:50 AM
People sure do like to get their panties in a wad over Google's logos. News flash: they are a business that can do what they want with their website, not some government agency you can pretend to have control over.

Oh, and by the way, there were millions of other websites that didn't memorialize our troops in their logos on Monday either. Why is Google such a big deal? Oh yeah, you're a moron, that's why.

It's a really interesting contradiction. The type of corporate based capitalism that's in play today sees nothing but markets and labor pools, not nations or people. Especially when it's these huge international companies like Google. Yet at the same time, there is a hesitancy to openly endorse and admit this particular aspect. The concept of an "American business" in an age where significant amounts of revenue are generated overseas is kind of ridiculous.

It's also like that Eduardo Saverin guy. Nations mean little to people of his stature since he has the power to simply go and do business wherever he wants. Citizenship for people like him is merely for what's most convenient at the moment.

In a weird way, the modern form of capitalism is more internationalist and has done more to remove borders and wither away the state than communism ever did.

Doodling a Memorial Day theme on the Google logo sort of cheapens a solemn holiday, don't you think?

If they did do something, someone else would complain that "they're insulting the memory of our troops!"

2012-05-30 10:50:08 AM
sigdiamond2000: Why does Google refuse to commemorate Memorial Day in exactly the way right-wing bloggers want them to commemorate it, specifically by increasing the yellow ribbon and American flag they used to a size that is, while indeterminate, sufficiently large enough to not upset their tummies or rustle their jimmies?

Is it because they're Islamohomocommunists?

I like how that guy compares them to Bing, maybe he should start using Bing instead. That'll show 'em.

2012-05-30 10:50:26 AM
Google doodles are always best, IMO, when they celebrate the more esoteric dates.

They should skip all the major holidays just for the lulz and impotent tiny fists of rage.

I'm increasingly convinced a large number of right wing folks secretly get off on being outraged all the time, and have to manufacture outrage where they can, for... personal performance reasons.

I wonder what you'd call that fetish. "Outrage Fetish" doesn't have a very good ring to it.

cman: In other news, google.com can be accessed from anywhere on the Internet not behind a great firewall.

I've been to China since Google pulled the plugs on Google.cn. Now it just redirects to Google.hk, and you could do some searches on it (I checked e-mail but didn't push my luck). I doubt that site did anything for Memorial Day though, but on the other hand it probably also doesn't block anything referring to Memorial Day.

What is this Google? Where can I go to find out about them?

I guess I should click the link. I'm sure they can use the ad revenue. I hope the link doesn't get Farked!

/P.S. linking to the Google main page with a stupid commentary headline sucks

Considering the Trotskyist roots of neoconservativism, which is about the global spread of free markets . .

While Iraq was burning, their primary focus was setting up Iraq's first stock exchange to promote publicly traded companies. Communism is a stateless anarchy, and they seem damned determined to make us all shareholders in the ownership society of pure markets, devoid of democratic representation.

Which is what RyanCare boils down to as well, making us shareholders in global conglomerates.

Somewhere out there are plenty of "lost" Faberge eggs made for the Romanovs.

I can't imagine what kind of treasure was buried around Russia just before its owners were shot or hauled off to Siberia.

Watch The 12 Chairs for a good Mel Brooks without any Nazis in it. Yes, it's hard to believe but no Nazis.
