Oh right, the imaginary ones.

Repeat a lie often enough people will believe it.

aside from the tobacco tax, the mandate (the fee that's not a tax but is a tax) and increasing the floor on medical expense deductions from 7.5% to 10% of income, he has not directly raised taxes on people making under $200/250k a year. A few of the new taxes/reduced deductions are set to start Jan 1

I'm not clicking on TownHall and if you are going to derp about the deficit you raise taxes and cut spending....which would most likely tank our economy. Also if you read TownHall your argument is invalid.

Just got an email from some muckety muck in the company. Wants us to write our congressman about repealing the 2.3% tax on medical devices found in the HCR law.

I think I will write my congressman and tell him that the greedy assholes in my company will do fine with the loss of profit considering all their competitors will lose it too, and maybe it should be raised to 3%.

Things that will destroy the economy: Tax rate increases on the top few brackets of a progressive tax system, defense spending cuts
Things that will not destroy the economy: Massive spending cuts to discretionary spending and government benefits

Well ending the Bush tax cuts.

You know, the one's that are one of the major reasons for our current budget deficit? You know, the budget deficit that the Republicans keep telling us is ruining the economy? You know, the economy they want to fix by increasing the tax cuts for the rich, thus increasing the budget deficit?

Corporate political advocacy via employees? Probably not. I don't know if there is a line drawn anywhere that if a policy / law jeopardizes your employment, that makes it ok? But still, probably not.

Obama's obsession with TAX INCREASES and his hatred of deadlines makes him easy pickings for Republicans in Congress who hate TAX INCREASES and deal with grace and dignity when it comes to deadlines, like the one for raising the debt ceiling.

Also, I appreciate the diligence of this reporter for rooting out Obama's plan for TAX INCREASES even before Obama knew he was planning TAX INCREASES.

Not trying to step on RK's toes, but as I (poorly) understand it, if you pay people to make things, they'll be able to turn around and buy the things that they just made. Without making something (supply), there's either nothing to buy or no one with money to buy (demand).

Not all Fark headlines are meant to be humorous. Many of them get greenlit because they provoke 'heated debate,' AKA: trolling headlines. And since this is the Politics tab, many headlines here are indeed, trolling headlines.

Got one from mine about 9 months ago, too, saying that I was eligible to be in their PAC and didn't have to do anything at all because they'd just make me a member. They just knew I'd be in support of their mission, which was to "assist like-minded politicians in securing the future of our company." Then they asked for money.

I wrote back to them and told them I think PACs are immoral and should be either made illegal or tightly regulated, that I never asked to be part of their PAC or any other PAC and that they needed to take me off that list immediately. I never heard from their PAC again.

I am, however, still employed by them, go figure.
