He's not playing Khan Noonien Singh. He's playing Noonian Soong. In this alternate timeline, he's upset about the destruction caused by Starfleet. The hyper-intelligent Vulcans, who he admired, are all but dead.

Soong takes the long view, and realizes that Nero's future can't happen. If he allows the timeline to progress as it might have, who knows what's coming through the portal this time? So he creates an army of robot infiltrators to join Starfleet and sabotage it from within.

Enter Captain Decker, a new crew member who contradicts Captain Kirk's orders at every turn. It's obvious he has his own plans for the captain's chair. When the Enterprise gets a distress call right on the edge of the Neutral Zone, Decker urges Kirk not to go. When Kirk doesn't heed Decker's advice, Decker begins acting very suspicious and shifty.

After a heated altercation, Kirk asks Decker what's the matter. And Decker says "I need about tree fitty." It's about this time Kirk realizes that Decker isn't a Starfleet officer at all. It's the Loch Ness Monster. Kirk says, "damn it, Monster, I ain't givin' you no tree fitty."

I've seen the shooting script. The opening scene is just so action-packed you don't even realize until it's over that they've taken Spock's Brain.

Can't. Mitchell's already been done in the new alt-comics that tie into the nu-canon. At least Sally Kellerman had the sense to stay home this time around.

Khan, Khan, scoop,

Star Trek, Captain Picard, Khan, scoop

scoop, ice cream,

Pecan ice cream. I hate Pecan ice cream.

This movie is going to suck.

I like star trek, but goddammit Hollywood, just write a new story.

Make up some new races, a new ship and also no force fields and modifying shiat to go through them.

You do realize he was Montgomery Scott in the last Star Trek, don't you?

/not sure if serious

"It just spoils the film," he continues. "It masquerades as interest in the movie but really it's just nosiness and impatience. You just want to say, 'Oh f--k off! Wait for the film!'"

You heard what Scotty said, and he canna make it any simpler than that!

But seriously, who is Be...

NO! He was being serious, fark off and wait for the film! Jeez, did it just go in one ear and out the other? Stop trying to ruin films by getting scoops on what it's all about.

Interesting. Didn't know about the comic.

So, from the pics released, strong enough to take on Spock hand to hand and tough enough to take a phaser blast from Uhura.

New idea: Surgically altered Klingon infiltrator. The sequel is supposed to have more Klingons, and they contacted Michael Dorn for a bit part that didn't work out. Also, remember that the "Trouble With Tribbles" episode showed such a spy. Plus Benedict Cumberbatch has the perfect bass voice for playing a Klingon.

RoyFokker'sGhost: Didn't know about the comic

I like them, there's only been a couple so far. They're just retellings of TOS stories but in the new universe, so things are slightly different (like Sally Kellerman not being onboard Enterprise for reasons I forget). They're supposed to eventually tie into the new movie but that hasn't happened yet. Still I like it.

"It's not Khan. That's a myth. Everyone's saying it is, but it's not. I think people just want to have a scoop. It annoys me-it's beyond the point to just ferret around for spoilers all the time to try to be the first to break them."

"It just spoils the film," he continues. "It masquerades as interest in the movie but really it's just nosiness and impatience. You just want to say, 'Oh f--k off! Wait for the film!'"

So, there you have it; it's Khan.

Maybe he's playing... -gasp!-... a completely new character!

Naw. That'd never happen.

2012-05-30 06:52:23 AM
It'd be amusing if it was Space Seed all over again, except this time around Khan's tube was the broken one and now it's just a different superhuman battling Kirk. To see Khan's ancient corpse in a broken tube would be a great way for Abrams to distance himself from the originals while simultaneously trading off its lore.

Also, kinda unrelated, I dunno if anyone else noticed but if you watch the animated TOS episode where Spock rescues his younger self from a Vulcan ritual, a lot of the best dialogue in the 2009 film between Spock and other Vulcans over his path in life, etc, seems to have been lifted from it near verbatim.

When you have a ship that is mostly automated and you mind control the two top officers on the ship, doesn't seem too hard.

Notice that after he no longer has them on board he is pretty stupid about controlling the ship. He chases a ship into a nebula that makes all the automated systems useless. Also, he doesn't realize or does not know how to move the ship in three dimensions.

Oh and fark off troll, Khan was an excellent villain.

The only thing I like about Khan is my buddy worked at a toner plant with a Chinese guy named Khan (probably not spelled the same way). It was a tall plant with grated floors so you could pretty much see all the way up and down. He said someone would get on the radio and call Khan, no response. They would call again, nothing. Then everyone in the plant at the same time would yell, "Khhaaaaaannnnnn"

Yes. It's one of Kirk's lines, to piss off Khan. My poor delivery didn't help.

Kirk: [hailing Khan] This is Admiral Kirk. We tried it once your way, Khan, are you game for a rematch? Khan, I'm laughing at the "superior intellect."
Khan: Full impulse power!
Joachim: No, sir! You have Genesis! You can have whatever...
Khan: [grabs Joachim in anger] FULL POWER! DAMN YOU!

I hope this is true. It doesn't make sense for Khan to show up this time around. Finding Botany Bay was a complete fluke in TOS, and in the rebooted timeline, there's no reason he couldn't just stay frozen.

Hopefully, Spock Prime had a short conversation with New Spock about some things that do need to get addressed, like V---GER and the space whales. Those should already have been heading Earthward before the timeline divergence.
