Again?

I liked his show back in the day so I'm okay with this.

Why?

Is Black gonna be the new black again this year?

2012-05-29 07:39:06 PM
And Trump will take all the credit. Will his first guest be Aubry O'Day?

Good for him!

And that's why he did Celebrity Apprentice.

I'm waiting for a redo of In Living Color.
With the same wit and humor and fly girls as the first time.

Is it 1990 already?

2012-05-29 10:12:57 PM
Does anyone remember why his original show ended? I remember it was popular and I liked it but I don't recall why it stopped. If someone like Jimmy Kimmel can get a talk show, I'm sure Arsenio Hall will be fine.

2012-05-29 10:13:31 PM
You know it.

/got nothing else since somebody already mentioned a return to 1990

Kimmel is somewhat funny. Arsenio was just loud and obnoxious. I assume it was canceled because of ratings. Everyone was paying more attention to the Leno/Letterman drama back then.

Actually, you are kind of right, except it is more direct.... Arsenio being syndicated, and really only NBC having a late night lineup at the time (and ABC having Nightline), a large number of Arsenio's carriers were CBS and FOX affiliates. First Letterman going to CBS cost him all of his CBS affiliates 11:30 slots, and then when FOX decided to go with Chevy Chase, he lost any FOX affiliates he had as well. Those two things, plus the very controversial Louis Farrakhan interview, basically blew his show up in 1994.

But, that is all 20 years ago now, ancient history in Hollywood terms. As stated, I'd imagine he could get a show again. My prediction is the post-Conan slot on TBS that George Lopez wasn't able to hang on to.

Fake idiots should not get their own show. That first scene in Amazon Women on the Moon is great, though.

Good to hear he's coming back, but I wonder how he'll play since it's been two decades. That said, is he going to basic cable? I keep hearing Conan's not doing that well and with George Lopez gone, I don't see how TBS would want to double down on the dying nighttime talk show market.

That said, maybe there are enough syndicated channels left over from the UPN/WB merger that need more original programming.

Too many teeth. Too many bony, pointy fingers. Too many tongues licking the tip of his nose.

/actually I stopped liking his show because it seemed like he fawned and made sure everyone knew he wasn't the alpha male...as if there needed to be one

clinically? no. ask anyone who has ever helped me move? yes.

srsly...I have 1 closet's worth of old stuff (magazines, assorted school-work, comics, family pictures...and some rubbermaid totes of various sentimental items).

I also have an excellent memory* and know what and where everything is.

Never much liked him or his interviewing skills but his show had the best musical guests, hands DOWN.

His musical booker knew what the hell he/she was doing.

Fishbone? Check.
Megadeth? Check.
Living Colour? Check.

The list of awesomeness goes on.

Very true, she is definitely responsible for a horde of kitten death, as long as I didn't have to hear her talk about herself afterwards.

He had a cute drummer, a girl named Star.

Oh as for this, I remember the first time Letterman had Megadeth on, he couldn't stop talking about it the whole show. Apparently he's a big fan. Also he's wanted Nine Inch Nails on his show since like 90, but first NBC and now CBS apparently have a problem with it.

That was one of the best moments in late night talk show history. When you can pull off being funny with a guest who doesn't talk, you're doing it right. He also once had Freddie Kruger on his show, then the next night he had Robert Englund on the show.

If someone like Jimmy Kimmel can get a talk show Arsenio Hall should be running for president. Jimmy's best days was side-hacking it to real talent.
