Also, how many Texans wish they had a do-over in Perry vs. Hutchinson?

There was an NPR report on this race this morning.. complete with lots of speechifying about Obama being the most radical president EVAR!!! Plus there's a Democratic candidate, but he's not going to win in Texas, so NPR didn't talk about him much.

It was disgusting and infuriating.

Oh goody, because Texas needed more derp.

Cruz is running to the right of Rick Perry's guy?

What's the platform- mandatory executions for marijuana possession? Sending the state guard to shut down abortion clinics? Please FSM, let it be secession.

Yeah, but when did Republicans start saying it like it was a bad thing?

How many Texans wished that there was a bit more emphasis on education and not parroting moronic Republican lines? This state is chock full of teatardian's and Redneck retardicans who think that everything democrat is evil and socialist. It's not even fun anymore making them look stupid in political debates.

I still don't believe the Tea Party is independent. I think it's just that Rove has learned the trick of carefully mismanaging important projects to increase his power.

So there's an anti-Cruz banner ad at the top of my page right now, and it says "Ted Cruz's law firm contributed over $200k to elect barack Obama" (yes, they neglected to capitalize Barack).

2012-05-29 10:40:29 AM
With the amount of Leppert ads, I would have expected him to be polling better than 15%.

Really hoping one of those asshats wins the primary outright - hearing the outright lies in their ads is getting annoying.

Don't blame me, I'm voting for Kodos.

It has been fun watching these guys beat each other up. Well, not really fun. More annoying as hell. I don't like being the guy who votes solely based on the letter after someone's name, but I think this year I'm going for a straight party vote for the Democrats.

Scary part are those that I know homeschool their kids because their Texas Teachers are too Socialist and teach them how to become a follower of Obama and other Democrats. Not shocking, they come back with racist comments about their black neighbors too.

I heard that story too. I had no idea 0bama was literally the most dangerous, anti-american president ever. Sometimes I wonder who's crazy; is it them because they sound so crazy, or is it me because i'm too crazy to realize Obama's "real" plan is to eat white babies and destroy everything forever?

The old guard is just angry that the upstarts are so open about it. Back in their day they were subtle about their race-baiting antics. These new guys just have no sense of the gentle touch required of racial politics.

But, yea, at this point watching the republican party gnawing off its own body parts out of spite is pretty old hat. Those of us on the left have been warning the right-wing nutjobs for years that they were increasingly losing control of the fringe elements, but they didn't want to hear it because the fringe was still voting for them. Now they're gnawing off limbs and everybody on the left and the center is getting queasy watching the mayhem.

Have fun fading into obscurity, angry, selfish, old white people and maladjusted hillbillies.

Still, it would be a brief reprieve until the general starts up. And in the general, it'll focus more on local elections, since the Senate race will be virtually in the bag for whichever R gets the nom. Whoever the D ends up being won't have enough money to blanket a state as large as Texas, and the R will have more ads, but not quite to the extent these three asshats are doing now.

Why would the GOP be pro-education.

- The powerful arm of the GOP is the senior citizen brigade. They clearly aren't needing any education at this point, and any money spent on the younger generation is less money available for the real Americans (old people like them) that deserve it.

- Younger republicans with young families can be duped into voting Republican because Jesus (this is Texas after all)

- and from a purely practical position, the dumber you are, the more likely you are to vote GOP/watch FOX news. A dumber (but white, religious, and xenophobic) constituency actually helps the GOP.

THATS why they don't talk about education.

To give y'all some ideas of how bad it is in Texas: I hear radio ads constantly attacking people for being "moderate." Seriously, that's the entirety of the attack - not that the person has done some non-conservative thing, just that they seem too moderate.

As a resident of Texas I agree with this completely. Also let me add that you know they don't give a crap about education when the state has to sue itself to prove that kids are being are being underfunded.

This state is going to hell in a hand basket and the morons are proud of it. All we need to do is finish it off by pull a KS and put some moronic tax law into play to ensure our destruction.

As a Dallasite, I'm going to second this. So many ads on TV or radio are geared to them being the REAL conservative candidate. They use moderate and compromise like they are bad things.

CSB: The wife and I were in the kitchen making some stuff for our Memorial Day party, with the TV on in the other room. We hear an add, and I kid you not, had the summary sentence in serious election guy voice "Illegal immigration, China, and Obama" as the reasons to elect their candidate. We both couldn't help laughing about it the rest of the day.

I love the cognitive dissonance in the ads- a bunch of them railing against Obama's destruction of America, and then Leppert calling Obama an "empty suit".

This thread did remind me to vote, though. I flipped my mental coin on the way in the door, and decided to vote Democratic. Part of my wanted to go GOP, just so I could vote against Cruz, but I couldn't bring myself to do it.

As it is an almost certainty baring anything out of left field that whoever wins the nomination will win the senate race I have this to say...

No matter who wins, we lose.

People keep saying the rubes are going to shuffle off into the dustbin of history, and the GOP is eating itself alive, but honestly, where are these people going to go? Do you really think they'll start voting Democratic or something? They're not getting any smarter or younger, and they are still going to be just as dumb as ever if the GOP were to somehow collapse. I think we underestimate just how long old bigots tend to live.

Anytime a former ESPN talking head goes down in flames, it warms my heart. Hopefully it serves as an ego check for the rest of them. Yes, millions watch your shows and stadiums are crowded with crazed fans but that doesn't make you a god or mean that you're smarter than everybody else. The real world problems > which BBQ joint should we feature this week while delaying play.

The tea party is only a valid threat to Democrats in super red states, not swing states such that red states will vote for a monkey as long as they have the R next to their name.

Independents in swing states don't like the Tea Party or extremist "WHAR BIRF SURFTIKICIT" folks.
