To be fair, I did a quick Google Image Search for "UNSC" and the Space Command logo was fifth image and all the rest were Halo-related. It might have been a better idea to spell out "UN Security Council" but oh well. Life continues.

I think the message here is obvious. Send Master Chief (and the Arbiter, obviously) to Syria. If he can kill hordes of aliens in outer space, I'm sure a pesky dictator shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Master Chief's overkill. ODST squads should be enough.

True enough, but I live for overkill.

If the UN had a symbol like that, it would probably get some shiat done.

CSB time

Was listening to some teenagers describe visiting a Civil War battlefield:

"...and over that rise was where the Union Army repelled the Covenant advance... ah, Confederate advance."

The audience was mostly older, so I'm pretty sure no one else noticed. Sounded like a fun idea for a game though.

FitzShivering: I enjoyed that the link has problems with British spelling. Pretty sic.

Sic is not an abbreviation for "spelling incorrect." It is shorthand for the Latin phrase "sic erat scriptum" which means "thus was it written". Essentially, it means that the immediately preceding word or phrase is being transcribed or quoted exactly as it originally appeared.

In this case, it is to note to U.S. audiences that the author did not make any error in the transcription and is aware that this spelling is not what U.S. audiences are familiar with. Basically, the author is saying, "Yes. I know you might think that this is a spelling error, but if you do, take it up with the Brits that wrote it, not me."

It was after SEAL Team 6 killed Bin Laden. The German news ran this picture believing it to be SEAL Team 6's logo, when in fact it is from Star Trek. I guess the bat'leth's, phaser in the eagles hand and the klingon skull weren't obvious...

Not just Star Trek, but some random fanfic site I believe. I don't remember any Maquis SEAL teams in the TV show...

Hmm, let's see.

Job #1, I get phone calls from Space Command. (Specifically, JSpOC)
Job #3, I wander around near the Security Council.

Since I can tell the two apart, maybe the BBC could hire me as a consultant.

Oh, you need something more?
Job #2, I use compound words like giga-yotta-ton to refer to explosions.

I can has job?
