List without the annoying two-page (though there's a nice rack in one of the ads) :

Atari Star Wars
Dark Forces
Episode I Racer
Atari Empire Strikes Back
Galactic Battlegrounds
LEGO Star Wars
Rebel Assault
Rogue Squadron
Super Star Wars
X-Wing

Well, that list was mostly a great big pile of shiat. Adjusted for reality:
Dark Forces
Jedi Knight
Jedi Outcast
Knights of the Old Republic
Knights of the Old Republic II [disclaimer: only qualifies if you install the restored content mods]
Rogue Squadron
Shadows of the Empire
TIE Fighter
X-wing
X-wing Alliance

Honourable mention: Battlefront II

They clearly gave great weight to firsts, and took one from many genres of games. My guess at their method:

1- find a list of video game genres.
2- take the earliest Star Wars in the genre.
3- put it on a list.

How can you not put the arcade's Atari Return of the Jedi on the list above Atari Star Wars? Or 1998's Star Wars Trilogy game (my god did I lose some money to that).

\ stunned to see Rebel Assault on this 'top ten' list

No KOTOR?

Wow.

Here's my favourite bit. Watch as the advisor character goes in a bizarre rant about one of his colleagues...

The kids favorites are Rogue Squadron and Lego...ANY Lego game is going to be one of their favorites.

TIE fighter is superior to X-Wing.

X-Wing Alliance was also fun

Galactic Battlegrounds sucked donkey balls. Using the Age of Empires engine for Star Wars was a stupid, stupid idea.

I tried getting into that, but I had a *really* hard time enjoying it. Thinking back, it is in the vein of Settlers of Cataan, only against a single computer opponent. Which was kind of lame.

List ends here for me. I pumped so many quarters into this damn game I can't even begin to hazard a guess. The minute I saw those game consoles, that theme music started playing in my head and I doubt it will go away tonight.

/And I'm sure that the death star explosion will be one of the memories still glued in my brain the day that I die.

It's not a top ANYTHING list.

Despite subby's characterization as such, it's just a list of 10 Star Wars games.

FTFA:

Since 1983, more than 120 Star Wars-themed videogames have been published. And while current focus may still be with the MMORPG The Old Republic, or perhaps even Kinect Star Wars, if you don't mind the dated graphics, you could spend half your life playing old Star Wars games.

Here's a quick look back at ten of them.

2012-05-28 06:29:38 PM
I wasted a LOT of afternoons on Episode One: Racer. The movie was 800 lbs of Rancor shiat but that game was fun as hell. Really tricky tracks later on in the game.

/ another vote for Shadows of the Empire

2012-05-28 06:37:37 PM
120 games? That's hard to believe. Are they counting the same game on different platforms more than once?

Hell, even Jedi Academy was better than half the game on the original list - for example, Rebel Assault, WTF? It's not a good game at all!

What I want to know is why we haven't seen any more titles in the X-wing series? They really were pretty rad, but it seems to have been completely abandoned

Swear to god though, there were some missions where you had some 50 heat-seeking weapons on your tail and it's like fark it, I'm playing something else after getting blown fifty times in a row.

Pod Racer really was a whole lot of fun, regardless of the movie.

Hey, gaming companies - you want my money? Update Pod Racer with fully realistic graphics, throw it on Steam (for future modding potential) and give it some noncanonical tracks and characters (for example, racing Yoda vs Darth Vader over Bespin). Keep the rest of the game as-is. Boom, done.

I remember paying a friend $2 for his copy of Rebel Assault. I still think I got ripped off.

The X-Wing v. TIE Fighter expansion Balance of Power was super fun, but the final mission on one of the sides where you have to take down a Super Star Destroyer was absolutely brutal.

/fark whoever decided that Super Star Destroyer Destroyers are now "Star Dreadnaughts"
//The only only Dreadnaughts are, well...Dreadnaughts

Commander Keen was badass as well.

Pretty much the entire genre of space combat simulators seems to have died out at the turn of the century.

Wing Commander, Freespace (Whoo!), X-Wing, etc. Kersplat. I miss 'em.

Besides the obvious missing games, such as KOTOR and the Jedi Knight series, Star Wars: Galactic Commando should also make the list. Very neatly put together squad based shooter.

The only problem I had with the TIE/X-Wing games is once you figured out the evasion spiral, very few things could hit you.

Still some of the best games ever made. Loved the fact that they were puzzle games with sim elements and nobody really noticed it till much later.

The arcade games are the best.

1)Star Wars - arcade
2)Star Wars Trilogy - arcade
3)Pod Racing - arcade
4) Star Wars (data east) pinball machine
5) Star Wars (sega) pinball machine

I can't think of many others. There are a lot of bad star wars games.

That game got squad combat down right. As the squad leader ordering your various specialists into the most effective position was fun, and intense. It begged for a co-op mode but we need got it. Such a shame it really felt like barely anyone played that game.

I griffin loved X-Wig and TIE Fighter, and loathed X-Wing vs TIE Fighter when they changed the flight physics making the wonton weave almost useless. X-Wing alliance was damn near perfection, I just wish they had included the Starspeeder 3000 to fly. Hell, I still search google often to see if any mod communities have made a flyable Starspeeder for that game. Whar star tours, mod community, whar?
