Pretty lame list especially when there are real life evil overlords that they could have based their fuzzy maths off of.

Step 1- Screw the less fortunate

Well, seeing as I can't see anything from a shiatty site run by gawker thanks to a plugin that costs me nothing, I'd say that it doesn't cost a damn cent.

Ha-ha! My free plugin has defeated gawker and their shiatty web designers for years now, and they still haven't figured it out! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!

/seriously though...

Fired from, no... shot by, perhaps.

/Should put that in the villain budget, though.

Put your strongest monsters/minions on the first floor of your fortress. Preferably in the front lobby.

Atlas F site

Upstate NY's Adirondack State Park

20 acres (or more). Most highly developed Atlas F site, part of exclusive airport subdivision on (FAA approved) 2050' runway, Low taxes. Privacy, security, and, unlimited possibilities. NO other like it anywhere.

Drastic Price Reduction!

Reduced from $4.6 million to $750,000!

Unbeatable?

3 quadrillion bucks. You could buy the whole US and have more than half left over to buy up Russian or China. At that point, you're good to go.

I'm glad to see that Peter Anspach's site is still there and getting some love. When I need some serious giggles, that's where I go ;)

Brainsick: Upstate NY's Adirondack State Park... Low taxes

HA HA... It's a joke, right? NY collects high taxes from the whole state to pay for a city that can't fund itself.

I don't know about that, but your own Evil Lair for under a mil is a pretty good start on Evil Overordship

/There will be no taxes in the brave new world

Too bad the link wasn't directly there rather than a crappy copy with no value added. Officially not following another io9 link.

At least Cracked has some amusement, and they write their own words.

Most highly developed Atlas F site,

Not sure I'd want my evil lair in a place that's still probably on Russian nuclear missile target lists.

You clearly are not an evil overlord.

Important is telling them where you are and taunting them, because you are extremely confident that they can't get near you. This confidence keeps 99.9% of the heros from even trying to get near you. The remainder will see through that, but that .1% needs to be dealt with in more subtle ways anyway.

In conclusion, taking a location that is already targeted is the ultimate in confident taunts.

Nothing,
financially.

Being an evil overlord pays for itself.
If done correctly.

However, what it does cost is time & effort.
You will not get much sleep and will have to execute many things yourself. (no pun intended, ok pun...evil snicker)

BTW...I know how to be an evil overlord.
Fortunately for the world, it's not my thing.

Someone should forward this list to Cobra Commander and Megatron.

If I could afford the down payment on $750,000 and somehow guarantee a telecommuting job - I would seriously consider that.

/and if wishes were horses...

Sounds like it's not too different from working at a tech startup--what you would need besides your own time and effort is a venture capitalist or two willing to invest $14 million in exchange for becoming one of your trusted lieutenants. That might not be so hard--if Facebook stock doesn't lose too much more value over the next few months, you might be able to convince an employee or two to cash in their shares once they're able and invest them in your plan for world domination.

It's not unusual for people who get rich from working at successful startups to become venture capitalists, and it's not unusual for a startup to keep its plans secret (except from its investors) until it's ready to launch, so you wouldn't be likely to raise suspicion while you're still vulnerable. And your typical newly-minted Facebook millionaire probably wouldn't be averse to working for a real evil overlord, after having worked for someone like Zuckerberg.

IT'S A BRILLIANT PLAN THAT CAN'T POSSIBLY FAIL! THE WORLD WILL BE OURS!

Ya, it's not like Fark has partnerships with sites who pay to be linked on here or anything.
