Too bad it's not Gordon or Jr, or the post race interview would involve seeing a Pepsi or Diet Dew, also a Pepsi product, logo. Which I'm sure would thrill the Coca Cola people.

cig-mkr: great thread, next week guys

Agreed. Great day, and 2 more races next Sunday. Can't wait.

Did you do the 500 thread earlier too? I got my IndyCar headline c-c-combo broken today. :(

No I was still asleep whenever that one got posted. Hell I was in bed by 1 AM, which is early for me on a non-work night. I'm getting old. :(

So, is it going to be breast milk instead of champagne in the winner's circle?

2nd race thread of the day to take a turn into lactation alley. I'm digging this.

Kasey was unbeatable. He wasn't handed this win, it wasn't a lucky moment or a fuel strategy win. He flat-out WON the race.

Good on him!

After further review... yep, D-A-M got the fNc belt! And I can't count, after bragging my math was better than one of the engineers at work.

See y'all... oh, IDK, Labor Day maybe? The bad part about working weekends is that I miss being in these threads. My brother-in-law asked why, and I said, "It makes the event where people go in circles much more entertaining!"

That was the most boring race I've seen in my life. They have to fix these mile and a half races or just get rid of them. When 11th place is a lap down you're doing it wrong. Ugh. I just wasted 5 hours of my life, other than the fact that I made the best beer can chicken I've ever grilled.

A good race. crash-free. Much passing. A deserving winner. JJ DIDN'T win. And I won the Hardcore title!

Plus we had an awesome Indy 500.

Been a damn good day!

NASCAR has some issues when the indy 500 had a more exciting last 20 or so laps than the coke 600. Better fix this shiat. Tomorrow.

What passing did you see? Maybe you accidently thought you were in the indy 500 thread. farking 11th car was one lap down, and I slow grilled an entire chicken with zero lead changes.

You're absolutely right.

We needed another 5 or 6 debris cautions to keep everyone on the lead lap.

A big part of this was the weird pit strategy that kept there from being *any* wave-arounds to keep drivers on the lead lap this race.

In a 600 mile race, I can't really imagine it being any other way. And just think when Richard Petty owned every track, he was often winning my two or more laps. And people were going nuts cause it was just so mind blowing. Then NASCAR banned his engine, then his car.

This is why we need Danica to start dominating. The fighting in the stands would be awesome. And can you imagine the shiat storm after someone like Harvick punches her?

The fans never felt ripped off. in the case of what Petty did in NASCAR they loved it, and when it happened at the Indy 500, they loved it there too.

I guess you guys aren't getting what I'm saying. No, I don't want races "fixed" in the sense of making it WWE. I don't want them to guarantee the 88, 48*, 24, 14 and other fan favorites always have a chance on the final lap. That's not what I meant by "fixed". What I meant was probably better said as "engineered". Similar to how they're quickly killing the two car tandem at restrictor plate races. Similar to whatever Indy did (I'm the furthest from an Indy expert) to make this years 500 the most exciting in decades.

I just want most of the laps to count for something towards the end. I love fuel mileage races, I love the road courses in spite of the fact that NASCAR cars are a bull in a china shop there, i love Daytona/Talladega. All of it.

But if the Coke 600 is a "premier event" you have to do a better job.

I've been a die-hard fan for 7 years, probably shorter than you two... but still I've seen 200-300 races, and have become a geek about the sport.

As to your specific comments:

1. No, I don't want carnage... and I'm glad thats been mitigated. I've seen every type of crash, and they bore me-- if not frustrate me (Tony Stewart style... "I suggest we run half the field backwards in the last 10 laps if that'll excite you")

2. I'm a huge Stewart fan. If he lapped the entire friggin' field, I'd be happy for the points he'd gain, but I'd be bored as hell with the race. I'm having a hard time beliving people were excited about the ENTIRE RACE when Petty- a fan favorite- did so.

3. The most exciting races to me are the ones where being out in front by 5 seconds isn't an advantage... where you work for 400, 500, 600 miles to position yourself for the final laps... and that may mean wanting to be in 2nd, 3rd, 4th or whatever place on turn 3 of the final lap.

Blah... I'm sure this thread is dead and I'm yelling at clouds.

On to Dover, where the race generally is pretty damn good (seen it live)

Sorry I missed all of you here last night. I got invited down to my favorite pub to watch the race and play pool.

I can finally appreciate the (excessive) commercial breaks. Not only did I get to sit down to watch every televised lap, I also played about 30 pool games, winning enough to pay for my beer :)

Thanks FOX Sports, for being so considerate!

See y'all next week for Dover.
