I had an Akita named Jinx who I suspect was from hell. Only the devil himself could create such a perfect engine of destruction, and disguise it as a cute blue-eyed fluffball.

Are they yours? They're lovely. Whoever says they're 'dumb' doesn't understand them.

Exactly what is the point in determining the origin of the domestic dog?

So, why don't humans have a baculum anymore?

Makkab

My dog (photos in profile) is only part Saluki, but the 'ancient breeds' sure are interesting.

Curiosity. Don't worry - it's not dangerous. It only kills cats.

Actually, the dog was the first animal man domesticated, opening the door to the domestication of other animal, like oxen, sheep, cows, chickens, etc. all the domestic animals we built civilization on.

Plus because we took the domestic dog for granted it is only in the last 30 years that science has begun to study this species which is symbiotic with ours.

Displaying an erection without mechanical aid is a sign of good health, aiding women in choosing healthy mates.

According to people who speculate wildly about the origin of man.

IDK about the origin of dogs, but "cats" are really invader, mind-controlling space monsters.

About 15 million years ago, a spacecraft crash-landed in southern Czechoslovakia. Its molten remains spattered over a wide area, becoming the New Age crystal known as "Moldavite." But there were survivors, and they emerged to take over the world.

The aliens looked around for a suitable ecological niche. They found the organism that had the cushiest job and enjoyed the most pampering, privilege, and even religious veneration: the cat, of course.

So the aliens killed all the real cats and took their place.

Possessing mind-control powers, the invaders wrapped their slimy, spiky mental tendrils around the brains of proto-humans and made the latter pamper them even more. The human race became thralls to invader, mind-controlling space monsters (hereafter, IMCSMs).

Think I'm kidding? Here is a Fark link that proves my theory:

http://bit.ly/KfIPnk

"Not News: Noble, a 2 year old feral cat born without eyelids, needs a $2000 operation to save his sight. News: Woman raises the entire amount through Internet in two days to pay for surgery. Fark: The power of Caturday strikes again (statesman.com)"

Woman innocently walking down the street is accosted by an IMCSM with no eyelids! She wanted to flee from the hideous thing, of course, but it got its spiny, slimy tentacles into her brain and forced her to take it home.

Then it forced the hapless victim to seek a veterinarian who would put eyelids on a space monster! She finally persuaded a vet to do this abominable deed, probably with more mind-conrolling help from the IMCSM. But it would cost $2,000.

Now for the really scary part: the IMCSM made this woman go begging on the Internet, asking strangers to pony up $2,000 to put eyelids on a space monster. And they did, in just two days!

Nobody in possession of free will and common sense would send money to a total stranger who showed them a picture of a space monster with no eyelids. So don't tell me that "cats" don't have mind-control.

Also, it's an unmistakable signal of attraction and arousal, which is important in a pair-bonding species with very altricial young.

They are the cat of the dog family. I wouldn't call a Saluki dumb, they just aren't your typical fun to play with dog. And they are fast as shiat!
