Here is what your delusions look like in the real world.

Don't try to educate him. Just watch in the month before the debates, as the Republicans remember that their "Obama teleprompter whargabl" is pure propaganda, the Republicans will once again be praising Obama as a master debater off prompter so as to lower expectations of Romney's performance. Romney's performance during the primary debates was mediocre at best. All it takes is another, "Bet you $10,000" flub and Romney will be toast.

Mormon girls are still not going to fark you.

Actually, I took a Mormon girl's virginity in college. I eventually figured out she gave it up to me because she was horny as hell, but needed to protect her sexual reputation at church.

In any event, if you're pro-Obama, it certainly doesn't help him in any way whatsoever to build up impossibly high expectations for him for the debates.

"Mitt the Machine" is going to destroy Obama, thrice.

"WAHHHH! Obama hasn't given us enough sound bites with which to castigate him - he's restrained, rational, and reasonable, and so we've nothing with which to work! WAHHHH!"

Here's a thought - tell Romney to actually figure out what his platform is prior to stepping up to the podium, and then keep a little index card with what he's supposed to be for or against, so that whenever he's asked, he can whip out that card instead of sticking his goddamned finger in the wind and trying to guess the "right" answer for the day, hour, audience, camera crew, and person asking the question.

FTA: He unquestionably imagined a re-election campaign similar to his experience in 2008 and the re-election Ronald Reagan, whom Obama has cited as a model, won in a sweeping fashion in 1984.

However, a pesky issue prevented that from happening-reality.

Ah! I think I see. You know, you might have something there. Obama really doesn't give a lot of speeches off the cuff, as it were. And his off the teleprompter skills have also probably atrophied over the past couple years through non-use and lack of primary challengers. And Romney did do very well in his primary debates against Gingrich, who everyone knows is a super-genius and, as a professor of history, is great at public speaking. Hmmm, Obama better look out, Romney is going to be eating his lunch in the debates.

Thanks for educating me!

I dunno about phoning it in. Saw Obama's latest campaign ad, and it hits on the need to care for our troops, both abroad and at home, and after they leave the service. It doesn't sound like just phoning it in.

It isn't an attack ad that folks can get their backs up about, and that is the real issue. He isn't leading with his chin, which is what Romney seems to be doing. Or rather, just leaving himself entirely exposed to try to sashay around the ring...

2012-05-27 12:33:00 PM
I don't think that going for the teleprompter thing is going to be exactly a winner, considering how Romney has shown himself to be barely passing a Turing test when he attempts off the cuff remarks...

This is maybe one to just back away from. Romney has a hard time exuding warmth and humanity, even with a speech in hand...

To me, it just comes down to the fact that Romney has demonstrated more than once that he can deliver a knockout blow in a debate. Obama, by contrast, just barely beat John McCain.

Then, there's a guy, just huffing and puffing, sweating and straining, face full of intensity, who looks like he's fighting for every mile. Republicans are the ones who think the second guy is going to win the marathon because he obviously, "wants it more."

So Obama is the Kenyan in this scenario?

I guess we'll have to wait and see how it goes. personally, I think Romney's campaign was over before it even started...he's a wooden speaker at best, relates poorly to normal human beings, is completely out out touch with issues that concern the rest of us on a daily basis AND Romney is on record as being a job destroying vulture capitalist. i'm not so sure. I took a tour around one or two of our local news websites and read through some of the comment/forum sections. there is an amazing level of consistancy from the GOP True Believers:

1. they refer to Obama as 'barry'
2. they believe Romney is Jesus reborn
3. 'libruls' are evil
4. if you aren't GOP, you're 'librul'
5. Obama can't win.
6. OBAMA CAN'T WIN!
7. OBAMA! CAN'T! WIN!
8. socialisms. so many socialisms.
9. birthers
10. theocrats

all of the above issues occured several times in any discussion of national politics. And some cases, multiple times in the same post. I didn't see any critical analysis from the rank and file, just lots of repetition of the same statements, using the exact same language.

Animatronik: Meanwhile, 60+% of the budget is for entitlements

The overuse of the word "entitlements" is repugnant by the right. Entitlements to mean that people that work 40+hrs a week for their entire life somehow feel entitled to retire at 70 or that people want to see a doctor when they're sick are entitled to healthcare. Or that we now feel entitled as snobby Americans to desire a high school education.

Meanwhile in reality the upper 1% suck up 90% of profit in our economy pay nothing to support the government that has provided infrastructure to make them rich and people that have busted their ass supporting business in blue collar jobs are told they should stop feeling entitled to things and work harder because that's what is killing the economy.
