Donnchadha: Ryan Hunter-Reay -- DNF (SIDS)

Marco Andretti - DNF (Curse)

2012-05-27 02:20:14 PM
Watching Hinchcliffe's onboard, he's had a fairly bad vibration for some time now.

2012-05-27 02:20:29 PM
Marco Andretti with issues, "vibration". Could be similar to Hunter-Reay's failure. The curse strikes again?

And Sebastian Saavedra is out of gas. Caution is out.

2012-05-27 02:20:35 PM
Marco's car is vibrating something fierce.

FiendishFellow05: Al Unser III

I remember him. You'd think with as many second generation Unsers as there are, there'd be at least one third generation Unser who could make it to the Indy 500.

2012-05-27 02:20:40 PM
Dumb-Ass-Monkey: WhyteRaven74: Was just thinking, there's a second generation Rahal, third generation Andretti, where's a third generation Unser?

What would they call him? "Really Little Al?" That's probably why there is no Al Unser 3.0 driving

I think they called him "Just Al". And as mentioned above, he was horrible. No surprise, you'd be horrible with a lame nickname like that.

2012-05-27 02:21:07 PM
Donnchadha: Yeah, I guess I'm overestimating their quality control capabilities.

No, you're overestimating the ability of humans or machines to make something indestructible.

Wow. Everybody to pit lane! NOW!

2012-05-27 02:23:16 PM
People think F1 crews doing 3.5 second tire changes are insane, Sato just got four tires and some fuel in 5.4 seconds. And that's with fewer people over the wall than what F1 allows.

I think the racing bug petered out with the third generation. Al III was apparently the only third-generation Unser with any significant career.

Happens in NASCAR too. It's all the pit chick for which ever race series is trained and asked to say as often as possible.

Looks like Andretti overworked the suspensions.

You'd think Michael would no better.

Anyone notice that so far not one flashback or ad with old Indy stuff has made any reference to Emerson Fittipaldi? Yet as a two time winner he's in pretty rare company.

No fuel economy cuz you gotta cut the RC to gas mixture

Marco "I wouldn't pit because I'm bored." He's quite entertaining.

@brantjames
Marco Andretti's possibly losing the mental game today.

To be fair, he showed flashes of brilliance in the BAR-Honda. Not saying he was MSC, but I don't think he was a bit better than you're giving him credit for.

Marco sounds like Kurt Busch, the way he's getting beeped.

He was a better driver than his equipment showed in F1. Also, aggression can be rewarded in Indycar more than F1, because it is expected.

See: The massive trantrum F1 drivers threw about Juan Pablo Montoya.

More importantly, the guy has continued to grow as a driver during his stint in Indycar.

I don't know what's worse, the Honda Crazy Train ad or the WATCH OUT FOR MY ROOOOOOTS kid for AT&T. Can't wait to see *that* one later.

I just hope marco's car is safe for everyone and his sake!
this is why i don twitch racing that much the risk

yeesh, I honestly don't know how we've avoided the Big One. Indy cars shouldn't be 4 or 5 wide!

there's lots of race left but this one seems waaaaaay cleaner than most. only what, 2 incidents on track? couple hiccups on pit road but pretty clean otherwise.

Marco Andretti just said they forgot the ketchup in his drive-thru order. Irate, coming around again.

Was just thinking Fittipaldi's first Indy 500 was the most recent of the blow out wins, he won by 2 laps. And third place was a couple more laps down.

Jensaarai: Also, aggression can be rewarded in Indycar more than F1, because it is expected.

That might explain it then. He was entertaining in F1 - usually flashes of brilliance with some mad overtakes, but not really consistent. Kobyashi has taken over as the current F1 Japanese banzai driver.

I remember when the aired races without 5 second delays, after one race Fittipaldi gets out of the car and says "Beeel, all day long, my Good year tires is shiat".
