Fallon, Rudolph, and McCarthy were the 3 best hosts this past season. A vote for any of them is reasonable. I'd vote for Rudolph, but thats just me.

My 3 worst utilized hosts: Helms, Day, Ferrell.

Worst Host- Lohan, duh

Daniel Radcliffe made the cut??!!?? THAT show was the steamiest pile of dogshiat I'd seen all season.

It's interesting what makes a good SNL episode these days. Fallon & Rudolph succeeded because they had good material written for them and they were good performers. Eli Manning had some great sketches written for him, but he was unable to pull them off. Lohan had terrible sketches written for her and she was unable to pull them off. It takes balance to make a show like SNL work week after week. Too bad Lorne Michaels is still willing to sacrifice the quality of his show with stunt casting.

Still, pretty much every episode this season was funnier than the time January Jones hosted.

FALLON??

Hell, Jagger blew Fallon's episode out of the water.

Dumb-Ass-Monkey: FALLON??

I don't really have a season favorite, but Jagger exceeded my expectations by a mile. Same thing goes for Eli Manning. I expected him to bomb in a bad way, but he held his own pretty well. Better than many noted actors who have been on the show.

Lohan was bottom of the barrel for sure. That episode sucked balls. I've never seen them stuff in more ads (real ones) to fill time before.

yup.

But Melissa McCarthy was damn ballsy funny.
And that's what I look for. In comedy.

Mick Jagger was surprisingly good. He appeared to be genuinely having fun watching the Mick Jagger karoake impersonations.

Well, I wouldn't say that. More like it's being excreted, but it's been that way for a decade now.

Interesting (checks the records)....

Yeah, Bush was the 34th best president as voted by historians. Obama is 14th.

Only a decade? I stopped watching in 1993.

/remember when Dennis Miller was a liberal, Phil Hartman and Chris Farley were alive, Victoria Jackson seemed sane, and the show seemed funny

THIS IS WITTY AND EDGY AND ISN'T SAID IN EVERY SNL THREAD.

You win! You get the 'please go away' prize.

I don't watch many of them, but I caught the Sophia Big-tits-whatever episode, and it was moderately funny. Her intro was well written.

I only watched the episode last week to see Jeff Beck play with Vinnie Colaiuta and Tal Wilkenfeld.

/not being one of those people complaining that the show is still on. If people like it and still watch it, keep it on the air.

If that ranch dressing sketch was the funniest sketch of the season, I'm glad I quit watching years ago.

/Except Stefon. Stefon cracks me up.
//Thank FSM for Hulu, so I can watch just those sketches.

I know it's cool to make fun of how bad SNL is, but the last half of this season has been the best in years.

+1 on Sofia Vergara. I thought she was completely not self-conscious with her characters and really got into the skits.

Fallon is an unfunny sack of crap.

Jimmy Fallon is funny as hell just for the history of rap videos alone.

To be fair to Lohan pre meth-mouth she was in one of the better SNL episodes in recent memory. The Harry Potter and Debbie Downer sketches were gems. The episode when she came back on had 0 on the funny meter. I don't think even the weekend update on that show was very good.

I too think the last half of the season was unusually strong for SNL. As for the hosts, Sofia Vergara did a good job, and Melissa McCarthy brought a lot of energy. The Will Ferrell episode was a lot more ensemble heavy than I expected, and that was cool. I thought a lot of the sketches in the Eli Manning episode were pretty funny, especially the courtroom and the motion capture ones. Other than the Al Sharpton sketch and the Lawrence Welk opening, I thought the Mick Jagger episode was great. Jagger definitely exceeded all expectations.

Still, I would have voted for Maya Rudolph. She really nailed it.

Jimmy Fallon wasn't bad, but I don't think his episode really stood out. Still, he gets a lifetime pass from me for his awesome music sketches he does on his own show. The Neil Young "Pants On The Ground" was both brilliant in concept and stellar in execution. I knew a few people who were sure it was the real Neil Young. "Tebowie" and Jim Morrison singing "Reading Rainbow" were great too. SNL should be doing more conceptual comedy bits like those.

three things:
1. that salad dressing skit w/ Melissa was the worst SNL skit I've ever seen.
2. Jagger can't do an American accent. (Radcliffe's American accent was pretty darn good)
3. Jagger's R.S. performance songs were pretty noisy and crappy, despite the awesome guests.
