zimbach: MrEricSir: Farty McPooPants: Didn't he have a talk show, too?

He was a VJ, he had a talk show, a made for TV movie (which the TV series was based on), an ad for New Coke, and a music video with Art of Noise.

That's off the top of my head, he probably had a few other appearances.

More recently, Max was used on British PSAs about the digital TV transition.

Here's that. It was clever to have Max age and go bald along with Frewer. Of course these days Max could be recreated as an actual digital character and performed by Frewer through motion capture.

aearra: Probably the best and most adventurous series on american television.

The funny thing is, it started out as an English production.

Red Shirt Blues: Klippoklondike: Apos: A fantastic satire the likes of which,as Weaver 95 has astutely pointed out,we may never see again. Matt Frewer is still a woefully underrated actor and deserves more recognition.

He was the best part of The Stand, and that's coming from a huge Gary Sinise fan.

Is that Laura San Giacomo? I might have to check this movie out. She sexy. But Jeez, could you have found a still that didn't look like she's getting assaulted?

One of the few shows I own on DVD. Truly one of the greatest things ever put on TV. Also just about the only time anyone has ever done cyberpunk right on the big or little screen.

To be fair that's still just 14 episodes. British seasons are ridiculously short.

Apos: Matt Frewer is still a woefully underrated actor and deserves more recognition.

If you have Netflix, look up the CBC show called 'Intelligence'. Matt plays a part of an organized crime investigation unit in Vancouver. He works pretty well in the role but once in a while one of his Max Headroom mannerisms will pop up and pull you back to the 80s.

You know, I don't think anyone has had more awesome acting jobs than W. Morgan Sheppard. Is there an important sci-fi series in the last 30 years that he HASN'T been involved in?

Isn't it weird how Demolition Man got that so right?

Nostalgia for commercials seemed so weird years ago, and I totally get it now. My old MTV vhs tapes get more play now than they ever did in the 80's, and I NEVER fast forward through a commercial. Just too much fun.

I really need to digitize my episodes from Max Headroom's music videos & celebrity interviews show that ran on Cinemax. Those VHS aren't gonna last forever!

At least one book. I have a copy of "Max Headroom's Guide to Life" around here somewhere. There's quite a bit about playing golf in it for some reason. Very strange for a character with no arms or legs to bang on about so much.

Still, the TV series was by far the best. The darkness was toned down quite a bit from the TV movie but it remained wonderfully atmospheric and compelling. It's also the most subversive show I have ever seen on television. Which is always a good thing.

It truly does deserve far more attention than it receives.

I concur. His character wasn't only the most relatable-you could feel the depth of his self-loathing and despair-but was arguably the best novel-adapted.

I recently found my tape of Saturday morning recording of Dungeons and Dragons. Dug out a VCR and popped it in.

SO getting it transferred to DVD. Not for the shows (which I already have on hdd) but for the commercials and Tron-esque CBS station breaks.

Remember the old Levis commercials? Animated and the blues ones? Those were so awesome!

Dunno if she has any tribal tattoos; only met her once, in passing, and she was rather covered up. She did influence American Tribal Style (FatChance) dance, Gypsy Caravan, Black Sheep, etc, blah blah blah, kids off yard, etc.

Nope - the voice of "Jack" is Dick Sittig, a marketing executive with Secret Weapon Marketing. My company used them for a while, and it was very weird listening to Dick talk, since it was hard not to picture Jack. Secret Weapon came up with the whole "Jack" thing, more-or-less saving the company after the E coli incidents.

No shiat! The very first time I saw a Jack in the Box commercial with Jack, I said, "that's Matt Frewer!" and I've got a pretty good ear for voices, and I'm a big Matt Frewer fan from way back.

I know there's been controversy over this, but I've stuck to my first impression and none of the subsequent commercials have made me doubt it.

If you actually witnessed Dick Sittig doing the spots, I will of course defer to your first-hand experience. He does do a hell of a job impersonating Matt Frewer's voice.

He's not trying to impersonate Frewer - it's his natural voice, though he puts a bit of smarminess into it for the ads. It's not a big secret that Sittig is the voice of Jack - there are tons of references in various articles on the web. If you heard him talk in person, you'd have no doubt.
