This man does not have high ambitions.

Well 'payday loans' are basically nothing more than legalized usury, anyways, so they could stand to be ripped off now and then.

Of course, if you are stupid enough to get stuck in that vicious cycle...

Pay day loans are a great way to bridge the gap between paychecks when unexpected expenses arise. Last year my son was hit by a drunk driver while riding his bike in our cul-de-sac. If it weren't for pay day loans, we wouldn't have had the money to cover his funeral costs and he would've been incinerated by the state. Sure, you get "his" ashes, but they are mixed in with whoever else died that week and whatever roadkill DOT picked up. It's not the same. Sure, the money is expensive, but sometimes you need it.

This is an extended metaphor for him purchasing and eating a KFC Famous Bowl and then immediately having to use the shiatter, right?

Payday loan store to the KFC?

Why not hit up the pawn shop, instant tax refund service, Cash for Gold shop, liquor store, and 8-Liner parlor I'm sure were in-between the two?

Another great way to bridge the gap when unexpected expenses arise between paychecks: a savings account.

/The bank even gives YOU some interest (though admittedly not much these days)!

If he wanted to flush money down the toilet, he should've gotten a loan from the payday store

So he decided to flush the money down the toilet literally instead of figuratively by going to a payday loan.

Drtfa, but if its a KFC, one can assume the toilets are already clogged.

shot in the dark but i'm thinking messing with pawn shop or cash gold joint and many liquor stores would have you catching a round.

what is 8-Liner ?

Pretty much. One of my ol' man's friends was a Pawn Shop owner and said one day some kid walked in and asked 'Have you been robbed, yet'

Without losing his cool, he replied 'I have you been shot yet? I have a rifle right under my desk'

They're video slot machines that have results of nine simulated slot machine rollers (the term comes from the fact that there are eight ways to win-three horizontal lines, three vertical lines, and two diagonal lines-based upon the combination of images on the machine). You stick cash in and either get tokens, credits, or tickets for prizes. Or in some cases, straight up cash winnings.

They're pretty much illegal everywhere in the States, but the makers of the machines and the people who run the parlors are always trying to find ways around the local laws so they can make boatloads of cash off of them. Poor and old people love to gamble on the chance of winning a new TV or a $3,000 cash jackpot, but the house always wins in the end because they'll keep coming back and spending more money than they win in the long run. Usually these places are set up in low-rent strip centers near "instant cash" businesses like pay-day loans, pawn shops, instant tax refund places, or even Social Security and welfare offices. Half the time the same sleazeballs own all the businesses in the center, so the're making money hand-over-fist.

Trying to feel some outrage because a payday loan store got robbed. Or burned down. Or swallowed up by a gaping hole to the Fifth Bolgia (the Grafters) of Dante's Inferno.

Nope. Not feeling any.

In Dallas, several 'slot houses' found a way around the system. Now most of the time, you just won prizes or what-not. But for those who were 'in the know' (this was never flat-out advertised), but you could cash in your winnings for a 'chip' and then they would direct you to a place where you could exchange the 'chip' for money.

That way they could legally say the slot house itself was not awarding the money

No, no, no. If you're trying to get rid of a lot of money fast, flushing it is too slow. Burning it is faster, but if you really want to see money disappear quickly, you need to buy a boat.

Ok, I know this is completely strange but this reminded me... Anyone have a picture from an oooolllllddd Fark thread where a guy was hanging off of the back of his vehicle with a giant KFC bucket? I lost that folder of pics a long time ago and have been a little sad ever since.
