From Wikipedia: Marc A. Thiessen is an American author, columnist and political commentator, who served as a speechwriter for United States President George W. Bush (2004-2009) and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld (2001-2004). He wrote the 2010 New York Times bestselling book, Courting Disaster, in which he argued that the enhanced interrogation techniques used by the CIA, which the Obama administration has characterized as torture,[1] are not torture by any reasonable legal or moral standard[2] and "were not only effective, but lawful and morally just".

How about NO?. I'm not interested in reading anything written by someone justifying torture.

2012-05-25 08:21:23 PM
Oh man there was one, I think they made cars or something...how did that one turn out? And TARP, man that was a real loser wasn't it.

Lest we forget Marc Theissen's boss is responsible for this financial mess. Oh and he supports torture. I would love to waterboard that dude, and not just for this sh*t article.

But yes it's so awful that the government would try to fund alternative energies and new technologies. Instead let's just blow billions funding technology on how to better kill people.

Solyndra was a smashing example of success.

Yeah, stupid obama. If his administration would have raped companies of their money instead of giving them money we would all have gotten tax cuts from all the extra money!

TheDumbBlonde: Solyndra was a smashing example of success.

Marc Theissen believes, like you apparently do, that stimulus money was given out to make companies successful. Not true... stimulus programs were intended to stimulate the economy overall. Which it did else we'd be in a depression instead of a recovery right now.

The phrase "burn through the money" does not mean they actually set fire to $100 bills.

Bain and Stimulus, apples and oranges. Keep farking that chicken.

So basically you admit that Bain capital's business model was/is indefensible? I don't exactly see you jumping up to defend how Romney and Bain capital ran their business.

2012-05-25 09:13:56 PM
Obama gave out loans or helped guarantee loans for struggling businesses. Some of those businesses failed despite the money.

That's exactly the same as Bain taking over a profitable business, forcing it to take out huge loans in order for the company to pay Bain obscene "management fees", selling off all the company assets, and then letting it default on the loans in bankruptcy court while Bain walks away with all the money and no liability.

Marc Thiessen remains the only guest of Jon Stewart's to complain that Stewart wouldn't let him get a word in edge-wise.

Best part about that interview is when Stewart said that he had to go for commercial, but would put the rest of the interview online, Thiessen essentially said 'I see how it works.'

No other guest has ever said that to Stewart. Not Condi Rice, not John Yoo, not Donald Rumsfeld, not Newt Gingrich, not Bernie Goldberg, not John McCain, not Betsy McCaughey, not Lynne Cheney, not Bill Kristol, not Bill O'Reilly, not Jim Cramer, not Michael Steele, not Ken Blackwell, not John Bolton, not Grover Norquist, not Mike Huckabee, not Colin Powell, not Ron Paul.

Just Marc Thiessen.

While I agree with you, the fact that these loans are not bringing any significant return (either economically or back towards the government) and many of these are money-losing ventures by the taxpayer's dime, Obama should be called out for this regardless of how bad Mitt is.

Who could've imagined that alternative energy investors and Democrats would constitute largely overlapping circles on a Venn diagram?
