vpb: coco ebert: I don't think people get the whole "cycle" aspect of it. Her kids are likely to end up as she is. Perhaps she's a bit of a lost cause, but supporting her kids with education and social and economic opportunity will help to break the cycle. After all, it's not the kids' fault, right?

I think it is more of a crucial piece of their worldview, that's why people home in on a sentence that sounds like what they want to hear and ignore the other 95% of the article.

The main argument for tax cuts is that 99% of the federal budget is handouts to Lazy welfare queens who don't want to work. People want to believe that because it gives them an excuse to avoid pulling their weight while pretending they are responsible people.

Also, acknowledging that poor people might actually have some problem other than laziness would be admitting that they are self centered jerks.

True. People of all types suffer from depression. It's just that wealthier people have the resources to treat it.

Eric Falkenstein here. I'm subtly suggesting that poor, uneducated people should be sterilized, but I've couched it in vague terms affording me plausible deniability.

Eric Falkenstein here. Amending my dicksucking prediction: In 500 years, technology will have advanced so that we can purchase clones to suck our own dicks. Welfare dregs will still have to suck the dicks of others.
