shivashakti: These moms should know that they're fighting a losing battle. The younger generation doesn't care about whether someone is gay or not. In 30-40 years, groups like One Million Moms are going to be seen in the same way that we look upon those that fought against integration or bi-racial marriages. As backwards, hate-filled relics.

The same can be said about pretty much any "social conservative" stand that has been made regarding any issue throughout history. Social conservatives are, by definition, fighting a losing battle. They always have been. One would think they could look at history and realize that there has always been a group of people that fight these ridiculous battles, and that after they lose history remembers them in a very bad light.

what's next from Marvel & DC - a re-release of highly sought after (lul) Thomas Kinkade, Painter of Light scenes suitable for framing?

Northstar came out well over a decade ago. Marvel isn't on the bandwagon.

SweetSilverBlues: KiplingKat872: ...also amusing that they go after the one gay marriage as a big sin, rather than going after all the murder (a commandment!) shown in comic book pages. Also adultery. They take the lord's name in vein a number of time too. And Thor (among others) is a pagan God.

But that's not real.

Actually, no. That was the Old New Question, the only question who has shown up in the New 52 is an ancient sinner mystically punished with facelessness. Rene Montoya still exists, we just don't know her deal. She still used to date Batwo though.

Well, to be fair, James Robinson probably planned to gayify Alan Scott since get was put in charge of Earth 2. He's run 8 issues of the Shade thus far and introduced a ton of LGBTq characters, not to mention his run on Starman.

That's bullshiat. I loved comics since I was in kindergarten, and collected everything from Superman to Spawn. And yet, I had a very firm grasp on the line between fantasy and reality. And there were plenty of characters that I liked as characters but was totally aware of the fact that they were jaded and nothing like the person I wanted to be.

Have you noticed that the people crying about how people who embrace fantasy can't tell the difference between it and reality are the ones who can't tell the difference between a millennia-old mythology and reality? They assume comic book fans will take comic books as seriously as the Bible because they take the Bible seriously.

Not to mention, thus far all the super gays in Marvel and DC [bar Douchen, Douche Wolverine] have been pretty decent people. You could do a hell of a lot worse for a role model then say, Batwoman, or Wiccan.

EVERYONE knows it's not the flying, energy rays, gadgets or super strength that kids want and try to emulate.

It's the heroes' sexual identity.

Not trying to over-serious the thread here, but is the US heading for another civil war?

From north of the border here, it looks like you have a large minority of deeply social conservative voters who become out-of-touch with a more reasonable world-view with each passing year. I question the sustainability of a political system that has such entrenched and diametrically opposed elements. Functioning policy creation and execution relies on compromise -- which seems to be a word that doesn't exist among a significant wedge of the electorate.

The more battles the social conservatives lose, the more entrenched they will becoome, the more the rhetoric will be escalated (as if that were possible but I am sure some will try). How long before they get pushed to the point where the election of a president with certain modern social values makes entire states declare that the Union has lost 'the moral authority' to govern their state?

I really don't get why homosexuality is such a lightning rod for these people.

In the bible it does say that two men sleeping with each other is an abomination.
However a few verses later it says that people who commit adultery should be killed.

If you are keeping score (and I personally don't) it seems that adultery is worse than homosexuality since there is a severe punishment for the sin.

So why don't all the gay bashers try attacking all those who commit adultery including almost every TV series, tons of books etc. They will have so many more targets.

/I am religious (Jewish, modern orthodox if you want to give me a label)
