Dragon's LIDAR locking on to the wrong reflectors. Like a biatch.

2012-05-25 08:38:04 AM
I have seen people biatching about a private company doing this stuff in another thread... i hope they really realize how amazing this is..

My highly insightful contribution:

Yay!

Goddamn that Japanese Kibo laboratory module. Now I'll be on a train when the thing docks instead of in my living room sipping whiskey. Goddamn LIDAR Kibo bullshiat.

Man, I'll bet the astronauts on the Space Station are hating the delay. Your stuck in a tin can for as long as they are and supply day has to be like Christmas to a child. They get up bright and early to open their presents and then have to wait. Every minute torture. Can see it out the window but can't have.

Haha. Stupid astronauts.

2012-05-25 08:47:07 AM
This is pretty awesome.

2012-05-25 08:48:26 AM
I want to be an astronaut when I grow up.

2012-05-25 08:49:25 AM
That view just got amazing when the sun came out.

Things happened so much quicker with the last experimental aircraft that visited.... and then they landed on a asteroid.

Dammit, I refreshed and now I can't load the page :(

4,000 viewers added in the time I'm watching. Wonder how many of them are going to be late to work because of this.

What's the hold up? Are the guys at SpaceX taking a smoke break? Captain Kirk could have banged three space broads and slapped a Klingon by now.

2012-05-25 08:53:27 AM
Did he just say it is flying over BAMF, Canada?

Wouldn't that be an oxymoron?

dalovindj: Can see it out the window but can't have.

Can't even shake the box...

Seriously, this is cool shiat. I wish I could be born twenty years from now, to have a hope of seeing the advent of serious commercial spaceflight and space commerce... I spent way too much of my childhood reading scifi, and as a result, I'm having a little bit of a nerdgasm right now.

I like the little plush dragon on the console there

I'd love for someone to just say " f- these holds...bite the sheets... I'm going in dry. "

More intelligent question.... why are we still using LIDAR? Lasers not work?

A room full of doughy middle aged guys, and one hot chick.

LIDAR (Light Detection And Ranging, also LADAR) is an optical remote sensing technology that can measure the distance to, or other properties of a target by illuminating the target with light, often using pulses from a laser.

Ummm.... Airborne LIDAR uses lasers.

LIDAR uses lasers.

How does the payload capacity and launch expense of a Dragon launching from a Falcon 9 compare to JAXA's HTV launching from an HII-B or an ESA ATV launching from an Ariane 5? I would dearly love to know that info.

I'm not going to find the image but ... the more you know.

Just as an FYI - I was thinking LIDAR that police used to use.

It's early and I'm tired... shhhhh

Good point. If you could graph the productivity of nerds over the next hour or so, it would be way down. We're not talking balloon-boy levels of work-stoppage or anything, but a nice little hit anyway.

/holiday weekend Friday
//no one was going to do any real work today anyway.

"SpaceX Dragon" sounds like the name of a giant robot from a 1970s Japanese
cartoon. This is not a bad thing.

You are stupid, Steven. Stop talking out of your ass.......... you should be doing work.

So, how would you like to be the guy sending coding changes up to Falcon... don't forget to include a ;

Isn't there a camera on the Dragon so they can show us the ISS from its point of view?

they show it occasionally on the feed.

Also, did everyone else lose the twitter feed, or just me?

I give up, gotta go to work. 15 minutes to shower and get ready, 35 minute commute. Wonder if I'll still catch it docking. Probably, as they keep going on like pussies with all the stopping and the holding. Test flight my ass. Either drive it in like a boss or don't do it at all.
