Not necessarily. The rhyme "Eeny meeny miny moe" has a very, very long history. It predates the disparaging term that was used in it for a time, so in essence it was inoffensive, then offensive, then made inoffensive again. No reason for a person who was not really around during the time when it sometimes included that offensive term to necessarily know about it unless someone points it out to you.

/Didn't know about it either.

Actually jury rigging is the correct and is the orignal wording/phrasing . It dates back to the 1600's

The racist version you're thinking of came about in the 1960's and was mostly a southern thing.

In fact In nearly 50 years I've never heard it. (that's why I googled it and came up with all this wonderful infomation).

That's what I thought they were called for a while. Then I learned better, as did pretty much everyone else.

Then one day I was with my grandpa at the grocery store checkout line, with a large African-american woman as the cashier. We had bagged some from the bulk section, so they weren't tagged. She wondered out loud "What are these called again, I've got to look them up for the price".

My grandpa and I sort of mumble and look around not knowing what to say, 'cause for whatever reason we couldn't remember the correct name either. And he used to be pretty racist, in the way that an otherwise good-natured elder can be when they now know better, but were simply raised that way and only in the last 20years have their children and grand children started calling them on it. So he's super self-conscious about it.

Then she leans in "I only know 'em as n*gger toes, right?" And we all get a pretty good laugh out of it.
