One does not simply waltz into Brazil and proceed to elbow-drop flags,Jericho.

Meh. At least they allowed him to apologize instead of just arresting him and tossing him in jail for a couple of nights. That was nice of them.

Kinda ruins the whole mood though, when you have a guy go in and be a dick to get the crowd going crazy and then everyone has to stop and he has to apologize to everyone. That ruins the whole suspension of disbelief.

I was under the impression that professional wrestling was a competition of physical prowess. An athletic event. I don't understand why that sort of event would require some sort of "suspension of disbelief."

You're comments imply that this is some sort of premeditated entertainment event. I think you may have this confused with boxing.

In an era where Vince is super retarded about keeping WWE's image squeaky clean (WHY AREN"T YOU STANDING UP FOR WWE??) I highly doubt this was a work. Vince would never approve this and the writing staff isn't smart enough to write something this good. FFS the best they could come up with to fire someone lately was making fun of someones voice.

This was a work no doubt

Chris Jericho's return to the WWE is coming close to an end due to other obligations. His band along with the loss at Over the Limit on Sunday night all but assures that he will not be around much longer.

Jericho has already stayed longer than he originally planned and Wrestlinginc.com (via PWinsider.com) reports that he "is indeed finishing up with WWE soon so he can go on tour with his band Fozzy."

It appears that this week might be his final appearance in the WWE. It would make since as it does not seem likely that he hangs around until the next pay-per-view.

Jericho has seriously been trying to redefine what a wrestling heel really is in modern times.

2012-05-25 02:11:36 PM
I really hope that Vince isn't making Jericho the fall-guy for this. It's been done in many countries around the world for a very long time. The crowd even took it well.

/Besides the role of guy who should be blamed for everything already belongs to Miz.
//How is Vince going to blame him for Linda should she lose in November is beyond me though.

2012-05-25 02:13:05 PM
Nice of the WWE to throw one of the performers under the bus when the schtick that goes along with the performer's role goes wrong like that.

They must be a wonderful employer to work for.

2012-05-25 02:14:23 PM
Yep.

It's a work, and Vince gets some free publicity. Jericho's indefinite suspension will be over in October, when he was due back anyway.

2012-05-25 02:19:42 PM
The WWE has just released an official statement saying, "Chris Jericho has been suspended indefinitely due to an irresponsible act of denigrating the Brazilian flag at a WWE event in Sao Paulo on May 24. The WWE has apologized to the citizens and the government of Brazil for this incident."

LOLWUT? Like he wasn't told to do it. Heels being heels, brah.

Trying to arrest him would have been a big mistake. Could you imagine what would have happened if he got to the ropes? It would have been a blood bath.

Actually that would have been a great work. Have him do that to the flag, then have the police stop the event and tell him to apologize or get arrested. Have him go into a speech sounding like he was going to apologize, then right when you are expecting him to say I'm sorry, he turns to the cops and say Popozao, hits one with the mic, super kicks the other, then proceeds to finish one off with a Lion Tamer and the other with the Walls of Jericho.

2012-05-25 02:25:32 PM
Obviously, Vince probably planned this "suspension" to get Jericho off TV because he is going on tour with Fozzy. However, did Vince realize he was gong to cause a legit problem with Brazil in the process? While flag-trashing is nothing new to WWE (as Hulk Hogan and Shawn Michaels have shown us,) actually doing it on that countries soil seems like pretty short-sighted idiocy. And with the "Stand Up for WWE" campaign in swing with Linda's political run, it seems like an even worse choice to have Jericho do this. At least with the previous flag-trashings and things like Vince sexabusing Trish and Linda's "comatose state" and Katie Vick can all be said "Oh that's what we USED to do at WWE. We've changed." I can see the attack ad now. "Last week WWE employee Chris Jericho stomped on the flag of Brazil. Isolated incident? No. Linda McMahon and the WWE have a long history of belittling and insulting almost every country on the planet. *shows HBK and the Canadian flag, Hulk and the USSR flag, Luger and the Japanese flag, Steiner saying France is the same as Hell, WWE crowds booing foreigners* DO YOU WANT THIS WOMAN HELPING SHAPE FOREIGN POLICY WHILE IN CONGRESS?
