Walliser: If any of the "Gluten free is bullshiat and you pussies are full of shiat" crowd would like to have me over for pizza and bread sticks, I'd be glad to spend the night at your house and prove you wrong.

Enjoy cleaning your bathroom the next morning though, because I'll projectile-shiat all over the walls just to prove my point...

Wait, won't you just be proving their point??? You'd be demonstrating to them that you were, indeed, full of shiat.

/Semantics aside, your point is well taken.

The My Little Pony Killer: True, but as I pointed out many hours ago

Voiceofreason01: The My Little Pony Killer: How exactly is that silly?

do you have a gluten allergy?
No?
Then making a big deal about food being "gluten free" is kinda silly, isn't it?

He's concerned that when gluten is outlawed, only outlaws will have gluten.

They can have his gluten when they pry it from his cold, dead, flour-dusted hands.

MayContainHorseGluten: TommyymmoT: Doesn't eating strictly gluten free food contribute to vitamin deficiencies in normal people?
I don't know, I'm just asking.

No, you're thinking of veganism or something like that. Gluten can come in stuff with nice nutrients (though rarely vitamins) but gluten itself is not really helpful or harmful to the non-gluten-intolerant.

Wheat's protein level kind of sucks without the gluten.

Smeggy Smurf: I sincerely hope that eating a gluten free diet when it's not necessary will cause pancreatic cancer. Weapons grade willfull stupidity deserves to hurt that bad

Pal, with rage issues like that, you may need to cut certain foods out of your diet.

I have a bottle of shampoo that prominently says "Gluten Free." If eating shampoo is causing you gastrointestinal distress, I guess it's nice to know it's not the gluten.

Presumably because Gluten free is becoming Faddish. I've seen a lot of raging Hipsters/people my age buy Gluten free because derp. And I asked if they had a Gluten allergy, and they said no. The entire thing is mind numbing.

Yeah, but those people are a lot of the reason why people who actually do suffer from celiac disease have an easier time finding food they can actually eat nowadays.

You're making me approve of hipsters, you asshole.

balisane: On the other hand, because it's in vogue, it's still as expensive as ever: just more widely available. As a huge treat, he bought himself a small frozen pizza yesterday: the 8" kind you can get for less than $3 at any grocery store. For him, the gluten-free version: $9.99.

Try to find Against The Grain, they're out of VT so I'm not sure what their circulation is outside New England. Still $8-9 but it's real pizza sized and bakes up a lot better than the other prefab GF stuff (the cheese version needs toppings).

Felgraf: My mother does not understand the people that go gluten free as a fad diet.

She's joked she would kill a baby to be able to eat delicious, delicious gluten again without it making her colon explode.

I suppose I'd best make sure to drink beer whilst I can, since celiac's may be in my future, too...

i chew gum instead of meals cause it says right on the package "not a low calorie food".
so i'm sure it has enough calories to meet my needs
