I was living in Stockton, CA when This is Spinal Tap came out. A friend of mine was convinced they were a real band, but was confused as to why he couldn't find their other 17 or so albums. I pointed out the scene with the puppet show and asked him if Stockton had an amusement park named "Themeland Amusement Park". It was only after having been shown that locations listed in the movie did not exist, locations in his own hometown, for fark's sake, that he began to entertain the idea that the movie wasn't true.

skinink: No thanks subby. I was young enough to have seen the commercial "Magic" which scared the crap out of me.. I wasn't old enough to be able to get in the theater to watch the film, though. Great film.

My 'Magic' story. When I was 5 or 6 (The movie came out when I was probably 3). All I wanted for my birthday was a Charlie McCarthy doll. My folks got him for me. And I practiced and got 'not sucky' and ventriloquism. Then about a year later I saw that movie on TV. Scared the shiat out of me, gave me nightmares. I had to hide Charlie in my closet, that didn't work so I finally made my parents get rid of him. About 5-years ago, my brother got me another Charlie McCarthy doll for Christmas. I finally rewatched that movie last year for the first time since I was about 6.
