I was told there would be no math except mine.

If you start at 100 and drop 40%, you get 60. To get back to 100 you need to add 40/60 or 66.6 repeating percent

55% is not enough to restore you to your starting point. You are about 18.5% short of a 66.6% increase.

55% of 40 is 22, which brings you up to 62 rather than 100. You're still down over 33.3 repeating percent!

I know I'm just confusing the issue. Why should I not have some fun? 14.2% of all people believe that Brantgoose is entitled to statistical fun.

Mugato: Dinki: slayer199: If liberals stopped listening to him (presumably they listen just to raise their blood pressure),

The only Liberals I know that listen to that fat fark do it only to keep track of the idiocy he spouts. They shift through the 2.99 hours of blather to find the really repugnant crap then post it on their blogs.

I can't imagine anyone but a brainwashed "Dittohead" voluntarily listening to his show. Although that's not true, I did play a clip from an article about that Fluke debacle and someone called in and told him that support of gay marriage is rising and he of course immediately dumped the caller and went on a tirade that I eventually shut off.

I voluntarily listen to it, simply because it's nice to know what his listeners are being told to think. There's a few dittoheads in my family, so at family gatherings the latest Limbaugh talking points get brought up. I like to be prepared.

So I was right when I said all of you of you predicting Rush Limbaugh's immediate doom and disappearance from the radio were insane and had been reading HuffPo too long? Fancy that.

coeyagi: hillbillypharmacist: A decrease of 40% after an increase of 55% gives a 7% total decrease.

(X - 0.4X) = y
y + y(0.55) = z

0.6x = y

0.6x + (0.6x)(0.55) = z

0.6x + 0.33x = z

0.93x = z

This equals a 7 percent loss if the 40% decrease is BEFORE the 55% increase, which is what the article states. Yes, you're math is correct but not for the condition you stated.

Also, it equals a 7% loss if the 40% decrease is AFTER the 55% increase.

100* (1+0.55) = 155.

155* (1-0.4) = 93.

(100 - 93) / 100 = 0.07

0.07 * 100 - 7%

Dear conservatives: Math is hard :(

100 * 1.55 = 155

155 * (1-.40) = 93

That's still a 7% drop from the original.

I care about neither. If you're stupid enough to listen to Rush Limbaugh in the first place, nothing worth listening to is going to convince you to stop.

And even if the racist, cowardly geriatrics and bumpkins who do listen to this crap stop listening, it won't be because they got any smarter, it will be because somebody with a more interesting schtick started beating this over-sized marshmallow at his own game and stole his derp mongers away.

Dittoheads aren't going to get any smarter. Ever. And moving them to a new idol isn't going to make things any better.

And people watch those for about the same reason.

ChimpMitten: I like to hear opinions that are different than mine and don't really like having opinions that I already hold reinforced but I can't listen to conservative talk radio. It just makes me feel slimy and gross. Instead I tend to read conservative news sites (anyone looking at my web history would probably think I'm a right wing wackjob, instead of a limp wristed lefty).

I don't get the intentionally being pissed off thing. There is enough in the world to piss me off, I don't need to go out looking for it.

I like to read left/right news rather than listen to it. Easier to filter the bias that way.

www.the-end.comTry Google's New Browser

I'm getting a mixed message here.

I never glanced at the ad, but now that you mention it, apparently Google Ads is trying to tell us something about Rush Limbaugh's audience.

Possibly this is that there's a bit of overlap between the people who follow Rush as the Great White Hope and Prophet and the people who follow the looney tunes far right religious End Time nutters who think that the election of a black President in 2008 was the signal for the End Times to begin.

Clearly these are not neo-cons, however, because otherwise they would be predicting the beginning of World War IV or V rather than World War III because the neo-cons like to believe that the Cold War was World War III, which is absurd but not based on religious nutbar logic, just nutbars and secular survivalist trail mix (more nuts and flakes than fruits).

I just hope that trying Google's New Browser is not part of the End Times count down, because I downloaded Google Chrome ages ago, and I'd hate to think that I helped to provoke the Final Conflict between Good and Limburgher, the Little Stinker of the Stygian Pit that is Right Wing Squawk Radio.

Yikes, just yikes! Do you think they're cognizant of just how bad they've got it?

Rapmaster2000: I've spent years trying to understand why people want to listen to a middle-aged man biatch and moan. Then I figured out that the appeal was the 30% of each show spent telling the listeners how honest, hard-working, and intelligent they are, another 50% telling the listeners how all their problems are caused by "the bad people" (liberals, minorities, foreigners, feminists, your ex-wife and that lousy judge that took all your money), 15% spent on group beat down of callers aka "the bad people", and the rest on Huey Lewis intros.

Basically, it's a support group for the career frustrated and/or the emotionally burned. It pumps up the self-esteem of the listeners. It's not really about being conservative or liberal. It's just that angry middle-aged men trend conservative so that's where we have to go with the content. It's also why liberal talk radio won't ever work.

Are you guys done with the math yet?

2012-05-24 02:52:27 PM
sry actually a net loss of 27%

lets say we start with 100 viewers and subtract 40%.
100-(.40*100)=60
Now we need to increase that by 55%.
60+(.55*60)=73
Subtract the 73 for the original 100.

100-73=27

So since we were dealing with an original audience of 100 and there is now 27 less sheep there is a net decrease of 27%.

Thank you
