No you didn't, you delusional, pedophiliac fark.

CSB:
I used to work with a guy who was concerned - terrified, in fact - about the prospect of us moving the office to a neighborhood in uptown that, in addition to being a big business area, is known as "the gayborhood" in Dallas. He was really worried about moving to a place where demons ran free with impunity, and was afraid for his safety and the safety of our clients.

I used to make fun of these people, but ever since meeting him, now I just feel sorry for them. He was honestly terrified in a little-kid-hiding-under-the-covers kind of way. What must it be like to go through life with that level of fear? I'm afraid of car accidents and ebola and a mugging, but these are all Earthly threats. If I thought I might get skull-farked by a three-headed demon with its skin on fire, I think I probably wouldn't get out of bed. Poor bastards.

goatan: In 2006, Father Amorth, who was ordained a priest in 1954, gave an interview to Vatican Radio in which he said Nazi leader Adolf Hitler and Russian dictator Josef Stalin were possessed by the Devil.

According to secret Vatican documents recently released the then wartime Pope Pius XII attempted a 'long distance exorcism' of Hitler but it failed to have any effect.

It says something about the story that this is almost normal.

But it never occurred to them to excommunicate Hitler. Apparently he didn't abort any babies or get divorced.

How far in the future are you talking about? Because right now they seem to be doing just fine. When you're an organization that can survive being exposed to covering up child rape, you're pretty much Kryptonite-proof.

He's 85. If he started doing exorcisms when he was 20, that would be right about three per day, every day of his life.

I actually meant that whatever he did weren't actual exorcisms but yeah, the math doesn't work either.

It's an interesting read for you.

But, to break it down, it is what they used to "diagnose" people with in Japan before the advent of psychiatry and the understanding of psychosis.

To break it right down, if your conversing with demons you are psychotic. Not that there is anything wrong with that mind you, it is just sometimes helpful to consider the rational alternatives that are availiable in any given situation before considering the irrational.

This text is now purple: Malik Sardonis: How about encouraging contraception in those areas because the populations are being eaten alive by AIDS and starved by overpopulation?

Of course, you can't simply blame the Catholic Church for discouraging simple prophylactic measures which save lives when used. The US government (under the previous administration) spent quite a lot of money doing the same thing.

The Roman Catholic Church will never sanction contraception. It's generally regarded as explicitly forbidden in the Old Testament, and some of the same citations are referred to by Christ, so it's at least implicitly forbidden in the New. You might as well ask them to soften their stance on murder.

...or their stance on Jews? Or on evolution? Or on heliocentric cosmology?

The Church has changed its positions on major issues many times over the centuries, in response to changes in its constituency. Modifying its position on contraception would hardly be the largest shift it has ever made.

And the Church's position on murder has historically been...uneven. Depending on who was doing the murdering.

When enough Catholics reject the Church's teaching on contraception, it'll follow.

Nonsense. If she gets knocked up you put a big baggy robe on her and keep her working in the kitchen or scrubbing floors out of sight. When the kid's born you sell it to a wealthy childless couple or raise it up to be a sex slave and/or alter boy/scullery maid.

It's that easy.

Coming on a Bicycle: kvinesknows: okay..

so reality on the numbers.
70K is not possible for a number of reasons the main one being performing an exorcism, if done correctly, it takes a fair bit of work and leaves them exhausted. at most an experienced priest could do one every second or third day and even at that rate he could not keep that up for very long. After more then 10 or 20 the more powerful demons would be seeking people close to him just to prove their demonliness and it would exhaust him even more with periods of a week or more of rest in between

Demons are not really concentrated in a geographical area that much. So somehow doing 3 per day, day in, day out PLUS travel time? Not gonna happen.

and finally.. if you are actually exorcising the same person over and over ( the only possible explanation given the unbelievable number) you are doing it very very wrong.

I bet he just phones them in. You know, with technology. Hello. It's 2012, man!

Or, sometimes exorcists claim that a single person is infested with dozens, hundreds or sometimes thousands of "demons". If he's counting each demon driven out rather than each person operated on...

Well it appears that Pope Benny is a big fan of The (Almost certainly fake) "Prophecies of St Malachy" concerning the list of future popes as evidenced that he chose the name Benedict (In the phrophecy this pope is called "The Glory of the Olives" and the olive branch is a symbol of the Benedictine order)

What he doesn;t seem to realize is that IF those Prophecies WERE accurate pope Benny is basically the guy who damn nearly destroys the church requiring a hero to arise to save the church (and either bring about the end times or the end of the papacy or the Catholic church itself):
" In the extreme persecution of the Holy Roman Church, there will sit Peter the Roman, who will nourish the sheep in many tribulations; when they are finished, the city of seven hills will be destroyed, and the dreadful judge will judge his people. The end. "
