So the guy went in, lied about his identity, obtained someone else's ballot, filled it out, didn't sign it, and took off.

Is nothing about that criminal in any way, that he's not facing charges?

Probably not if he didn't sign it.

I swear O'Keefe is the little kid in class who biatched about people cutting in line, after he cut in while the teacher wasn't looking. In the end it doesn't matter because we had assigned seats.

I'd have no problem at all with voter ID laws.

So long as that ID is free and there's robust systems in place to ensure that everyone, regardless of their schedule, financial situation or health situation, can get one with trivial effort.

Otherwise, it's just one more attempt to keep undesirables away from elections with a thinly obfuscated poll tax.

111th CONGRESS

1st Session

H. RES. 809

Honoring the fact-finding reporting done by Hannah Giles and James O'Keefe III in their investigation in the fraudulent and illegal practices and misuse of taxpayer dollars by the Association of Community Organization for Reform Now (ACORN).

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

October 7, 2009

Mr. OLSON submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform

RESOLUTION

Honoring the fact-finding reporting done by Hannah Giles and James O'Keefe III in their investigation in the fraudulent and illegal practices and misuse of taxpayer dollars by the Association of Community Organization for Reform Now (ACORN).

Whereas Hannah Giles and James O'Keefe III filmed investigatory videos uncovering the fraudulent and illegal practices of the Association of Community Organization for Reform Now (ACORN);

Whereas the House of Representatives voted to completely defund ACORN on September 17, 2009;

Whereas these videos resulted in the potential annual savings of millions of taxpayer dollars to organizations that contract with ACORN;

Whereas Hannah Giles and James O'Keefe III have displayed exemplary actions as government watchdogs and young journalists uncovering wasteful government spending; and

Whereas Hannah Giles and James O'Keefe III are owed a debt of gratitude by the people of the United States: Now, therefore, be it

Resolved, That the House of Representatives--

(1) honors Hannah Giles and James O'Keefe III for their work as investigative journalists;

(2) commends Hannah Giles and James O'Keefe III for bringing to light the fraudulent behavior of the Association of Community Organization for Reform Now (ACORN) and helping save millions of taxpayer dollars that otherwise would have funded ACORN; and

(3) respectfully requests the Clerk of the House to transmit an enrolled copy of this resolution to Hannah Giles and James O'Keefe III.

So someone went into a polling place and asked for the ballot for a different still-living person. The poll worker remembered the incident and the voter, and later asked someone else to have that person come vote. If and when the real voter showed up, it would have caused problems. How is the assclown in the video not being prosecuted?

In Florida the teabaggers managed to pass increased restrictions for getting an ID or a replacement ID -- unless you have a computer. If you lose your ID and go online, it's a walk in the park. But if you show up in person, you need a certified copy of your birth certificate, your social security card, and two proofs of address, plus the fee.

Hell, I got a replacement ID online while changing my address without any proof whatsoever.

I heard that ACORN is not really defunct; but merely changed names and are now traveling the highways and byways of America signing up liberal voters, disguised as a motorcycling club called the "Hell's Angels" or something like that. I hear they're involved in prostitution and drug trafficking and launder the proceeds through George Soros' criminal empire.

Mr O'Keefe has experience going undercover as a pimp. Perhaps he should blow the lid on those folks.

"In the video, he identifies himself as Bolton and - according to the narrator - is offered Bolton's ballot.

An unedited, three-and-a-half-hour version of the videotape on Veritas' own website, though, shows that editors snipped out a key piece of the video: a poll worker asking the 20-something impersonator if he is Michael G. Bolton Junior.

The Veritas operative says yes.

Michael G. Bolton Jr. , who has the same address as his father, is very much alive."

I think it was very bold of them to post evidence of the fact that they lied right on their website for everyone to see.

...No, no, I can't even bring myself to be sarcastic. Why isn't that disgusting, slimy little sleaze in prison? Oh wait, because he helps the Right Wing propaganda machine. After all, even when his ACORN bullshiat was exposed as a hoax, we still get retards saying "ACORN helped child prostitution!"

I really don't understand what he was trying to show with the two people who were registered to vote, but he mistakenly believed were not citizens.

If they were already registered, how was the identification requirement going to stop them from voting? If they're non-citizens with permanent residency visas, they're going to have lots and lots of ID. Or does O'Keefe imagine that you can recognize non-citizens because they're all walking around with nothing but a fake ID that says "Captain Kirk, United Federation of Planets"?

Is this guy some sort of super genius troll, and just too smart for a dumb guy like me to understand?

2012-05-24 12:43:41 PM
"I told the people at the polls that," she said. "I said this is exactly why you should require an ID."

It's ok lady, the only people actually doing this are the O'Queef crew, and they keep getting caught.

Back in undergrad I participated in an put on by the "Veritas Forum." (Helped usher, actually.) It billed itself rather neutrally as a "dialogue on spirituality," and had some bland description that involved exploring the influence of worldviews on moral foundations. At the actual event, though, pretty much every talk was about how conservative, fundamentalist, hyper-evangelical Christianity was the only philosophical system that made sense, and that everything else was absurd, dangerous, and so obviously false that only an idiot would even consider it. They ran down a fairly standard list of polemics: Atheism implies moral nihilism, genocide and anarchy. True morality can't exist if evolution is true. The acceptance of homosexuality is an example of how barbarous society becomes when it moves away from being all Jesus, all the time. You get the idea. There may have been a "debate" with an real, live atheist, at one point, but once the thing started the organizers stopped pretending that the event was anything more than a cheerleading session for their religion, despite advertising it as being much more "ecumenical" to lure in philosophically-minded students.

Long story short, between this group and James O'Keefe's people, every time I hear about an organization with the word "Veritas" in the name, I now assume they're full of shiat until proven otherwise.

About time the local paper here reports about the lies in O'Keefe's "truth" video. The Raleigh TV stations have been suspiciously quiet about this video ever since they breathlessly reported that he was "the man who brought down ACORN" and that he had a video proving voter fraud was taking place in NC.

Even though I was seeing online reports within days of the video coming out that it was fake and completely inaccurate, and cited exactly the same reasons that the N&O's story did, the television news programs haven't said one word about this.

I always loved the idiocy of their stunts. I says a lot when, just to get attention, you need to do this:

Two weeks after his death, on the day of the May 8 primary, a Veritas operator clad in a strange outfit built around green lederhosen, a multi-colored cap and a bleach job that made his beard and hair mismatch to a comical degree, appeared at Bolton's polling place.

And this fact does, in fact, percolate out into the right-wing idiotsphere. Observe this pure idiocy from Allahpundit:

How do O'Keefe's cohorts keep a straight face when they're wearing those costumes? I cracked up at the sight of the guy in lederhosen; I'd bet at least one sting operation had to be left on the cutting-room floor when the stinger simply dissolved in laughter at the absurdity of his get-up.

What's being done here is transparently obvious. "LOOK HOW STUPID AND OBVIOUS THEY ARE! HOW CAN ANYBODY NOT SEE THROUGH THEM? STUPID LIBS!"

Now, here's the real question.

Is there a law against people who dress like ridiculous idiots voting?
Is there a law against people who wear lederhosen voting?

No. And there is no reason to suspect any person falling into the above category is de facto committing fraud. "You aren't dressed how I like, you can't vote!" is un-democratic, un-American, anti-Western principles, and all manner of things that folks like Allahpundit and O'Keefe like to pretend liberals are.

So why do they do it? The obvious pageantry. "LOOK WHAT WE GET AWAY WITH! LOOK HOW EASY IT IS!"

Yes, look how easy it is to do something that should in no way impede your right to vote anyway and unsurprisingly come up unimpeded in your right to vote. Clearly, it's the libs that are stupid. And it's amazing how often they go for this angle. Probably because it works. Even the victims of their stunt seem susceptible to this retarded theatrics that demonstrates exactly jack shiat:

The imposter's disguise and behavior were so odd, Bolton said, that surely it should have set off alarm bells.
Why?

The worst part is, of course, is that for anybody with half a farking brain, it demonstrates conclusively that not only are they wrong, but they know they're wrong and are deliberately lying to cover it up.

That's the thing - the address you give DMV isn't any more "secure" than just stating an address. Requiring people have IDs with matching addresses isn't any more "proof" that they live there than the person just stating their address.

Pretty much. I made the mistake of trying to do it first at the DMV. But my birth certificate was the original, which they won't take.

Did it online and *poof*. I could've put down my eighth grade teacher's address, they'd have sent me one with that address on it.

/of course, I'd have to vote in that precinct
