I'm waiting for Obama to start running Romney vs Romney debate commercials.

Hah, Obama is even using The Palin against R'Money.

Man oh man, I would never want to be in a battle of wits with Obama. :-/ I think HE'S the real robot! Superior AI programming! Maybe he was made in Japan...and therefore NOT A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN! I FIGURED IT OUT!!

simplicimus: I'm waiting for Obama to start running Romney vs Romney debate commercials.

Exactly. If Team Obama was really on their game, they'd prepare for the debates by sourcing Romney quotes that are the exact opposite of what he'll say in the debates. Every time Romney talks, just read the appropriate quote out loud.

Gingrich, who has swung from being one of Romney's chief antagonists over Bain to endorsing him, predicted in an interview with CNN late Monday that Obama's attacks on Bain would fail. "One of the things we discovered we could never make clear an attack on a particular case and Romney's ability to say 'no, this is about free enterprise.' And the average American looked up and said, you know, 'it's about free enterprise,'" he told CNN.

The President should take that to heart. Gingrich is a guy who always learns from his past mistakes.

I like how he's ceding the argument because it didn't work on his base. Newt is essentially saying "We tried to convince everyone it's a dog turd, but because Romney is so good at calling it a polished diamond, the American public now thinks this dog turd is a polished diamond, so therefore that attack won't work."

So, how long until these former candidates start complaining about Obama's PAC using their own words in ways they didn't want?

I'm surprised.

Usually the Democrats let opportunities like this pass them by

Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has a cameo taken from a Fox News Channel appearance in which she calls on Romney to substantiate his claim to have created 100,000 jobs while at Bain Capital. "That's fair, that's not negative campaigning," she says. "That's fair to get a candidate to be held accountable."

Forgive me for a minute while I laugh my ass off.

incidentally, a LOT of wall street people are very VERY pissed off at these ads. I'm surprised at the level of anger, actually.

I'm not. This could be the start of a discussion on off-shoring, H1B visas and other ways Business is selling out the country. The whole job destroyer discussion.

I've seen some trial balloons go up very recently asking "What's wrong with outsourcing?" I'm interested to see how the conservative portion of the "losing jobs abroad" crowd refines their argument.

yeah, but its not like the 1% have bothered to care about if we all know/understand what their business model has been for the past 20 years. a couple of slick advertising campaigns, a bit of lying and a token donation to the boy scouts and they can go right back to raping/looting and pillaging without the rank and file voters in this country complaining. Hell - the tea party will actually DEFEND the 1% for shipping jobs overseas. so will most Republicans.

why care now?

Stop pulling things out of the memory hole, it's messing with our doublethink!

The GOP set themselves up for disaster - like the Seattle Mariners sending their #5 pitcher up against the 3,4,5 spots in the Yankees rotation. I recommend that Reince Pubis and his cohorts learn how to play chess.

Obama's 08 campaign is by far the best I've ever seen (incidentally it was against the worst I've ever seen), so I have high expectations this time around.

The only difference is that I won't believe his campaign lies this time.

/ still bitter that I was duped the first time despite being so jaded about politicians

Trust me the SuperPac's will, they are saving those ones until closer to November so team Romney won't have enough time to defend himself. Santorum only said 1 thing I could agree with and that was that Mitt Romney is the worst republican to run against Obama.

Republican tears are oh so sweet

2012-05-23 03:53:45 PM
Why am I picturing the scene from Princess Bride with Vizini and The Man In Black every time I picture Romney and Barack debating?

"Clearly, you are a liberal, and so you support gay marriage, as does a large portion of the country. So I cannot choose the position in front of me. But, my base will not come out and support someone who supports gay marriage, so I cannot choose the position in front of you!"

Barack "You're stalling."

"You only WISH I was stalling!"

First rule of GOP club: Follow Reagan Doctrine!

Now look at them - they're farked! If you're going to totally shred the front runner in the primaries, you'd better make sure he loses the primaries!

See above for the mistake in Newts argument. This tactic DID work in past election win Romney lost. Also Romney's economic plan is the same as other GOP but Obama's is different.

I almost never say this about Democratic campaign strategies, but I think this will be effective, if not in ginning up pro-Obama votes, then at least in suppressing the Republican vote.

When even Gingrich and Santorum are exposing themselves as anti-capitalist Marxo-fascist hippie class warriors, it'll be pretty hard for GOP voters to convince themselves that Romney will be their supply-side knight riding in on a pure white steed.

That's rich... using the GOP war machine against itself.

2012-05-23 03:56:36 PM
He should just keep running ads like that an keep obfuscating the fact that the primary is over. Make Romney have to keep defending himself from the right.

all of that aside tho - it is far past time for us to have a chat about companies like Bain capital and their tactics. that form of 'business' is little more than legalized looting and pillaging with nothing but rubble left in their wake.

I guess that's why Romney's people are so pissed off about these ads. I very much doubt Romney himself understands how damaging this ad campaign is to his election chances...but everyone ELSE on his payroll knows that the little people are mad as hell at how Romney made all his millions.

the problem for the GOP is that Romney really has screwed over a LOT of blue collar workers. plus, Romney represents a class of investor that damn near everyone in this country despises. He can't dodge this mess, he's in it up to his earlobes.

But that's how they create jobs! By shipping 100 positions overseas, profits go up, the CEO gets a bonus, and now he can afford to hire a pool boy! That's a job created, right there!

I don't want to hear about the economy, or domestic affairs, or tax rates. This is a single issue election to me: Can biracial, transgendered couples receive abortions abroad for fetuses that were implanted in them by doctors who received Medicare payments from seniors who supported the troops but not the war in Afghanistan?
