Forget about helping the driver of the crashed truck, better check your bumper for scratches.

I don't understand why he would have been videotaping himself driving down that road.

All the cool kids are doing it. In Russia anyway. Was this Russia?

Pocket Ninja: I don't understand why he would have been videotaping himself driving down that road.

I sometimes hold my phone up in camera mode while driving in case I get lost. That way, I can go back and look at the video and see if I missed an exit. Or, if I know I'm going back the same way, it's a great way to see where the gas stations and fast food joints are in case me or my car get hungry. I only do it when I'm in unfamiliar territory, though. I suspect this guy was doing the same, but I could be wrong.

Insurance fraud is rampant in Russia. Many folks over there record dash video to protect themselves.

Yeah don't help the guy in the truck or anything. Look at the farking dent in your car. shiathead.

1)Help the truck driver out
2)give him a lesson in basic fluid dynamics.
3)send him back to trucker school for further education

I think the first car that passes the accident (0:29) had one of these in the window:

I read on another FARK thread awhile back, that it's common in Europe for insurance claims. True? Beats me, but I guess it sorta could make sense.

Image stabilization applied to the original video, same reason the hood shifts around.

The Lada in front was damn lucky to not get flattened. Wonder how much he saw of the accident or the truck falling towards him.

Even more reason for urgency in extricating the driver, then both of them could GTFO.

I think he's still posting satire troll bait.

Everytime we have one of these threads someone asks the same question and everytime I post that it cost me less then $200 to put one in my car that only turns on and records when I'm driving.

It's pretty much expected at this point.

I've been tempted to get one for my motorcycle ever since that California motorcyclist got hit, and the driver of the car claimed she swerved into him and he was stationary. Luckily for her the video showed he was lying.

Who swerved into what now? I'm sorry, I'm having pronoun problems here.

The only help that truck driver needs is driving lessons. He was going retardedly fast around that corner and paid the price...

Not sure how hard it is to install on a motorcycle, but it took me less then 2 hours to wire it into my radio power supply and I'm quite happy with it. I got mine after getting into an accident and the other woman lied about what happened. Luckily her lie was so outrageously wrong that the police were able to quickly figure out whose fault it was, but I didn't want to risk that again.

judging by the way he slammed into his door also indicates he wasn't wearing his seat belt either.

I think this is it:

Back when it happened, there was a thread on the forum for one of the SoCal riding groups when she answered questions. Apparently the driver of the car told the cop that he was at a complete standstill when she struck him.

I looked into a cam at the time, but they required a dedicated "camcorder" to record the video, and you had to either carry that on you at all times, or wire it up to a tank bang.

They're still kind of expensive, but at least digital storage is cheap enough that you no longer need tapes and a dedicated "camcorder" to record on to.

You don't know that his brakes didn't fail coming down that hill. We don't even know what the terrain is around the bend, but it looks like it goes up. It might go way up. And yeah, yeah, gears, blah blah, but gears only do so much for you. And yeah, maintenance, but most commercial drivers don't own their rigs.

Just put the noose away, okay, Judge Dredd?

Wow...you have to be an extra special trucker to lose control going UP a hill.

90% of the car crash videos on YouTube are from Russia. Every Russian must have a recording device in their car.

2012-05-23 08:09:25 PM
The blog that posts collections of dash cam recorded accidents several times has moved to roadfail.altervista.org.

All of the accident videos that have been posted here lately show up in those collections. Many of the clips are amusing. Some are horrifying.

Most of them are Russian/East European, some are Asian. I think it won't be long before these are ubiquitous in the US.

1) How lucky was that red buick looking car?
2) How about helping that guy in the cab, asshole? I get your car is broken, don't be a dick.
2.5) It's a farking tanker! you think they haul water around? well, they could, but most of that stuff is flammable or acid. Don't just stand there. Run, help, do something!
3) Fluids and inertia. How do they work?

2012-05-23 08:33:51 PM

I have one of these

api.ning.com

$50 bucks on amazon and it clips to your jacket
With a 8G mirco sd card holds about 4 hours of video

I've been looking into one of these for my truck. Any brand or suggestions? Some moron reversed into me at a stoplight a few weeks ago and I've been wanting to get one since.

CSB: Dude claimed that I was too close to him on a hill and I shouldn't have gotten so close as his car is a manual and rolls back a bit on hills. Cop looked around and marked down on his sheet "car is automatic, hill slope is negligabe." A cam would have helped as I could show his damn Reverse lights on. /CSB

Jesus, people, put your pitchforks away. He's standing there for all of ten seconds. Ten measly seconds. Ten seconds during which he was probably stunned that a tanker just crashed into him. Then he walks back to his vehicle, where he could be getting a cell phone, or tools, or any number of other things to help the driver. We don't know because the video ends after those ten seconds.

You people are a piece of work.

This is Russia. He's lucky that guy isn't tying the door shut on the truck and lighting it on fire.
