Just imagine if "SNL" writers had visited a conservative web site or three prior to the final show

Because nothing says "comedy genius" like "Conservatives".

They could have tried to capture the lightning-in-a-bottle that was the "Half Hour Comedy Hour", which I believe was canceled after 17 minutes.

SNL won't tell the unfunny jokes I want them to tell, will only tell the unfunny jokes their writers want to tell.

Conservative "humor"...cartoon of a cemetery filed with solders who died for our country(still trying to WTF that one out)

"liberal" humor...racking anybody over the coals for a laugh.

The difference, so much more derp coming from the "right" these days, the writers don't even have to try.

Is it just me or are these "Conservatives demand equal time in comedy" threads popping up at an alarming rate recently? How many time do they have to be told that a: mocking the poor and defenseless, b: being mean-spirited and sociopathic just for the sake of being mean-spirited and sociopathic, and c: not having the slightest grasp of "subtlety" doesn't make for good comedy?

/It's really not that hard

One of the "pitches" this "writer" makes:

Elizabeth Warren's Fauxcahontas story. 'Nuff said.

I'm pretty sure for a topic to be considered worthy for SNL it first has to be about something at least one person--one soul, anywhere in the world--gives a shiat about.

I'm sure once your spec script explains who Elizabeth Warren is, why her genealogy is important, and why not being 1/32 Cherokee was so embarrassing, it'll be a real knee-slapper.

Like it really matters. No matter which party is in power, they'll crap my money away on stupid bullshiat and then act like the problem is taxes (either too low or too high) and not government spending,

At least when Republicans are in office, the leftist media is comfortable making fun of them.

Yeah I know, SNL never made fun of Bill Clinton. Or Al Gore when he ran for president

But seriously, the problem with making fun of Obama is there's nothing inherently funny about him. Reagan was old, Bush I talked funny, Clinton was fat and horny, Bush II was retarded, Gore was boring, etc. Obama as a person is just kind of.... there. He's kind of cool, but you can't really make fun of that. He's kind of dorky, but not enough to make fun of. So you have to make fun of policies (always a winner), ineffectiveness (real or imagined), or just plain made up stuff (He's Muslim and/or from Kenya). It's not a matter of people are laying off because he's a democrat, they're laying off because he's not funny.

The only two places that have consistently and effectively made fun of Obama are The Onion and...Obama himself. Every White House Correspondents Dinner he offers up about a dozen self-deprecating jokes just begging for "real" Conservative comedians to run with. The problem is they run with them and take them to a very dark place.

You can joke about people you like and be funny, you can joke about people you don't like and be funny, but you can't joke about people you hate and be funny. And the amount of sheer dictionary-definition hate the right harbors for Obama right now makes any attempt at comedy impossible.

/At least liberals had the good sense to keep those who bitterly hated Bush off the stage.

You do realize that this is not a fair assessment of all conservatives, as me calling all liberals pot smoking hippys who work for PETA is not a fair assessment of all liberals.

What I find most hilarious about this literal blog comment. I cant call it an article. It says one thing, but what i find most hilarious, is the general response. While, I think the bloggers article is pretty dumb, because obviously, and please dont try and deny this, but obviously the SNL writers have a leftist slant, and they are more prone to mocking conservatives than liberals.

So to ask the question, is in itself kind of stupid. But the response here on fark is equally laughable. As most of the comments here are focusing on the fact that conservatives are "too stupid" or "lack good senses of humor", which is a remarkably sweeping statement that deserves ridicule.

In the end, SNL will poke fun of what gets the most laughs. And being that their audience is probably more left, their jokes are going to lean more left. I dont really have an issue with this. Its a reality. But seeing farkers respond to this with equally stupid comments, well its equally stupid.

Lets just agree, the bloggers post is stupid, and I hope he doesnt get paid to write such shiat.

Now feel free to hate me for not being aggressively liberal.

Have they even made a joke yet about the Prez eating dogs? That could be mined for some funnies.

As far as presidential jokes go one of the funniest things they ever did was the Reagan sketch where he's the senile old guy morphing into the brilliant man of action when the press isn't watching.

Stopped watching SNL many years ago.

100% this. I'm still pretty young and I remember the onslaught of Clinton jokes in the '90s, so I don't know how so many Republicans magically forgot. Hell, late night comedians still jump at the chance to make sex jokes whenever his name is mentioned in the news. With Obama, "Hey, this guy likes teleprompters" isn't a gold mine of material like horn-dog or idiot is.

Conservatives, I'm sorry if liberals aren't as inherently clueless, hypocritical, anti-intellectual, racist, sexist, religiously fundamentalist, homophobic and occasionally closeted homosexual as you are.

If conservatives are so pissed about jokes being made about them, stop giving the comedians so much material. Blaming the messenger is nothing short of a victim-complex. Oh wait, that's pretty much what you do.

I've said this since Obama announced his campaign. His quirks just aren't funny. His only real "quirk" is that he kinda goes out of his way not to have "quirks".

Obama himself can be funny (singing Al Green, the appearance on Jimmy Kimmel).

But lets face it, he's the least joke-worthy President since Eisenhower.

Seriously... I dare anyone to at least come up with an idea for a skit directly about obama that would be funny.

The only thing I can think of is you could probably wrestle a few chuckles out of the teleprompter thing. Obama using a teleprompter in strange places other than at the podium. Teleprompter has some nonsense loaded into it, breaks, something like that. But I can't see that making the cut, even with SNL being pretty lame lately.

The birth certificate thing? Maybe.

Problem is... all the jokes about these things have been told. And I can't see coming up with something original.

Clinton, Both Bushes, Reagan, Carter... all comedy goldmines.

I agree, but even that's not inherently as funny as Clinton explaining Somalia by stealing everyone's French fries, or hitting on anyone nearby. Or as funny as GWB's and Palin's ongoing battles with the English language.

Bush Sr. was terribly unfunny (he was invisible during his VP years) until Dana Carvey salvaged something out of an impression. But anyone who thinks comedians didn't rejoice when Clinton was sworn in is fooling themselves.

The birth certificate thing? Maybe.

I think the best of these were done by Obama himself, like the Lion King video. His White House Correspondents' Dinner routines were executed well, even though I realize someone else is writing them for him. Compare it to the tone-deafness of Bush looking under the couch for WMDs during an active war.

And this was hysterical, especially after you realize that right before this event, he gave the 'go' order for the Osama raid:
"And I know just the guy to do it -- Donald Trump is here tonight! (Laughter and applause.) Now, I know that he's taken some flak lately, but no one is happier, no one is prouder to put this birth certificate matter to rest than the Donald. And that's because he can finally get back to focusing on the issues that matter -- like, did we fake the moon landing? What really happened in Roswell? And where are Biggie and Tupac?

But all kidding aside, obviously, we all know about your credentials and breadth of experience. For example -- no, seriously, just recently, in an episode of Celebrity Apprentice -- at the steakhouse, the men's cooking team cooking did not impress the judges from Omaha Steaks. And there was a lot of blame to go around. But you, Mr. Trump, recognized that the real problem was a lack of leadership. And so ultimately, you didn't blame Lil' Jon or Meatloaf. You fired Gary Busey. And these are the kind of decisions that would keep me up at night. Well handled, sir. Well handled."

The issue is that stereotypical "liberal humor" is humor first, then liberal. See the Onion article on Joe Biden washing his Trans-Am in the white house driveway.

The issue with "conservative humor" is that it's conservative first, then an attempt to be funny. See The Half Hour News Hour or NewsBusted segments on NewsBusters. Conservative humor is also reliant on in jokes that are self-evidently funny only to people who are already in on the joke. There's nothing inherently funny about Obama swinging a golf club while eating dog in Kenya with Bill Ayers while bowing to a Muslim and reading Rules for Radicals that would make someone who isn't into conservative politics laugh. And anything less than that would be viewed as going to easy on Obama by the Breitbart crew. Meanwhile, it's easy to explain that Mitt Romney is not quite able to convey "human"by having him order a napkin at a bar.

This is simplistic yes. there are conservative comedians who are funny (Nick DiPaolo) and Liberal Comedians who are not (Jeanine Garafalo), but they are just following the same blueprint. Nick DiPaolo is a conservative who is making jokes, Jeanine Garafalo is trying to make liberal resentment into jokes.

Exactly. And the best humor isn't pro/con towards policy, but poking fun at situations or personalities. Bill Clinton going into the McDonalds is funny. Barack Obama going back to his birthplace in Kenya or whatever isn't going to be funny.

Well, I think Seth Meyers hosted that dinner, so odds are, given that he's SNL's head writer, that he probably had a pretty big hand in writing or at least collaborating on Obama's jokes and the Lion King bit.
