This is a very disturbing story.

So he has this wildebeest living in his house and has to stay 6' away from him and his kid AND a security guard who is presumably CLOSER than 6 feet?

I'll stay poor. Thanks.

Looks like Corey is poorer than you on account of he has to rent out a room to a she-beast to make his mortgage payment

It is and isn't true. If she's a tenant, he has to evict her through the proper process (30/60-day's notice, etc.) unless she was doing something that allows him to give her 3-day's notice like violating the lease agreement, breaking the law, being a nuisance, damaging the property, etc.

TFA didn't say he was renting out of financial necessity, he could have been merely charging her rent in a (futile) attempt to maintain some semblance of civility and order (housing costs money, why hook a hosebeast up for free?) while she got back on her feet - she could have been someone he was sympathetic to, but still had a few misgivings about (a reason to charge her rent). Of course the moment he cashed her check in exchange for her room she got all the legal protections afforded to any tenant, though if my personal slumlord experience is at all relevant (not sure what the laws are in CA) he could have her legally evicted in 60 days (assuming she didn't sign a lease that wasn't month to month or something).

I'd think the threats would qualify for a three day eviction

/almost wrote "the treats would qualify"
//at 300 pounds that might be true too

Single lodger in a private residence

A lodger is a person who lives in a room in a house where the owner lives. The owner can enter all areas occupied by the lodger and has overall control of the house. Most lodgers have the same rights as tenants.

However, in the case of a single lodger in a house where there are no other lodgers, the owner can evict the lodger without using formal eviction proceedings. The owner can give the lodger written notice that the lodger cannot continue to use the room. The amount of notice must be the same as the number of days between rent payments (for example, 30 days). (See "Tenant's notice to end a periodic tenancy".) When the owner has given the lodger proper notice and the time has expired, the lodger has no further right to remain in the owner's house and may be removed as a trespasser.11

Terminations And Evictions

. . .

Three-day notice

A landlord can use a written three-day notice (eviction notice) if the tenant has done any of the following:

Substantially interfered with other tenants ("committed a nuisance").
