Good for this mom! Great way to teach your kids about the permanence of the internet mixed in with a little bit of Streisand syndrome. You wanted the attention honey, here you go!

Remember the psycho family that made their little girl run around the house for hours as punishment for lying about a candy bar? She farking died! I say good going to this Mom. She got her point across and it sounds as if she actually has a level head and can talk to her kids. And she did it without physically harming anyone...

/I got it with the strap growing up and I will say THAT kept my arse in line more often than not. Don't think today's standards really allow for that anymore...

I wouldn't worry. If it's good enough vodka, the underwear will be removed.

A mother named ReShonda exercised good parenting skills?

Freakonomics was a lie, I guess...

Good on mom but she needs to know public shaming like this only works once. You have to go all out to make sure the message sinks in.

All I ever needed from my mother was THE STARE (tm). THE STARE (tm) was enough to turn your blood into ice water. I've actually used THE STARE (tm) to some positive effect on my son.

Maybe you should try parenting your kid by not giving them easy access to your liquor.

I'll assume you're joking as people who name their child ReShonda can't afford any of those things...

Yeah, because it's not like this is going to follow her around forever, or anything.

"You think it's funny to play with matches? What would you do if you caught on fire.... LIKE SO! Doesn't feel good, does it! Did you ever consider that? ... ...Honey?"

Because no one will be able to tell who the girl is from the mother's name and city of residence, and she won't have anyone making fun of her about this for her entire school career.

Because humiliation on a national level is a rational response to an ill-thought-out picture.

Because punishing your child is the perfect excuse to attention-whore on a national level, rather than something to be kept private.

FTFA: "She saw how this picture has gone viral, but ... now she sees that if it had been the picture of vodka that went viral, it could have ruined her life," Billingsley said Tuesday.

Ruined her life? A picture of her holding vodka? How, exactly?

Meh - my mother did something similar. She was preparing the fireplace, and I was about 4 or 5 years old, and struck a match for her. She then lectured me about the dangers of playing with matches or fire, whilst she watched the match burn down to my fingertips.

That was over 30 years ago, and I haven't forgotten it yet!

I really don't get this. The kids seems to been responsible. She knew she couldn't drink the vodka and didn't, despite the fact that she wanted to. What else can you expect?

Now she'll probably try to imbibe as a protest against a punishment she sees as unfair..

Except catapulting her daughter to Internet infamy is less like "finger singed, lesson well learned" and closer to the immolation-errific ending I described, in that it's an example of a parent actually succeeding in giving a kid almost exactly the kind of fate she claimed she wanted to protect her from.
