I had no idea there was anything remotely controversial about LittleBigPlanet, other than the fact that forcing me to wait until October for LBP Karting is cruel and unusual.

List is more games that caused controversy, instead of video game consumers boycotting a game.

Every video game boycott by gamers has been equally dumb because most go out and buy the game regardless.

I haven't looked at the article yet, but I recall there was some controversy about the user designed levels because just like every other game where users can create levels or other mods, there were immediately some made available involving boobies and genitalia.

Nope.

There was a song containing quotes from the Koran.

No, this was because one of the background songs had lyrics that were expressions that could be found in the qur'an, which apparently was offensive to muslims, even though it was written and performed by a devout muslim.

No, in the orginal game one of the songs was some words from the Koran set to music. Teh Mooslims had a problem with that, as the Koran is not supposed to be sung, or something. They had to change it.

I loved Time Killers! I lost a hippy friend after he watched me play, it though. He wasn't sanctimonious about it or anything, just a really gentle guy that was freaked the fark out by it, and kind of scared of me because I was enjoying it so much. He avoided me after that.

Mortal Kombat: "wait until they get in a situation where they're fighting then they'll think about this and try to make it real"

Yeah, that huge spike in people ripping others spines out wasn't just a statistical blip in the 90's, guys. This genius foretold all that, and YOU DIDN'T LISTEN!

My mother forbid me to play Mortal Kombat due to the news hype. Even after the sequel came out the news still focused on the original.

I played Mortal Kombat 2 on my SNES all the time. My mother even commented how it sounded like a bunch of dogs suffering when I played it. She never made the connection I was constantly playing the game she forbid me to play. I had already been playing it for quite a while when she forbid it and kept going after.

I love the fact she never put two and two together.

There was a local pizza place in Ridgewood, NJ which wouldn't let anyone under 18 play a game the was shooting line-rendered robots. 2D obviously. They'd let you play TigerHeli, right next to it, which was blowing up villages in a 'Nam type area. fark them. No robot killing though.

Maybe the pizza place was secretly run by robots?
And maybe those robots didn't want children trained to put them down once the eventual Robot Uprising occurs?

They forgot the retarded attempt to boycott L4D2. A boycott that many people wanted because Valve created a sequel TOO SOON for people. Just what we need, gamers discouraging Valve from making a sequel in a timely fashion.

This is probably the reason we still don't have a Half Life 2: Episode 3.

Article felt poorly written, shoddy editing aside. Like he tried out for cracked but was given some clown shoes for the walk home or something.

I didn't like the ME3 ending, but I bought it believing that people raced to the end just to see the finish and got the shiatty ending instead of playing it through and getting an awesome ending. I was disappointed and I get why people are pissed but I couldn't find the care beyond biatching for a bit. The night ended with wild sex anyway so I retain fond associations with it.

I remember trying to crotch punch the chick character in MK while playing Johnny Cage and shouting "I PUNCHED HER IN THE TWAT, TELL ME THAT DOESNT farkING HURT" and got thrown out of the 7-11. I think that was MK.

For most of their history, the arcade machines tended to have better hardware than home consoles. "Dragon's Lair" is a classic example, as it came out during the NES era, but it wasn't until the late 90's or so that any home console could accurately replicate it.

I didn't get censored on music too much, except Black Sabbath for some weird reason. Metallica, Rage against the Machine, White Zombie, those were all ok.

I wasn't allowed to play Magic: The Gathering. My Dad said it was because the occult and summoning demons and whatnot, but I think it was nerd-shame. I still remember the look on his face when he took me too a geek shop to buy a Warhammer starter set. The 30 year old neck beards playing against children, the reek of BO and funions. The anime posters. It was too much for him.

From that point on, all I had to do was mention an interest in any sort of non-geek activity, he would fall all over himself to buy it for me. Tennis racket, done. Skate board, how many do you want? Camping gear, fishing rods, golf lessons, anything to keep me from debating wizard tactics with other 30 year old virgins.

I did end up thanking him for Magic, though. Because now I can honestly say I never played a game of it.
