Obscure C&H reference? I never recall reading that he lived on Acorn Hill road.

Or is it something else?

Submitter, do you think its a good idea that you admit to be a professional robber?

Fark has your IP you know, or are you so pro. that you used an anonymous proxy when you submitted this link?

Is there something special about Acorn Hill Road in Hobbsville? Is this one of those obscure things that's actually obscure?

FTFA: The sheriff's office says the two robbers fit the description of a duo that's been robbing Duck Thrus in the area lately

Is this an example of Spell Check fail or is this really a term used in some parts of the south?

I'm in Alabama, which is about as southern as you can get and I've never heard this term.

It's not a term, it's a chain of food stores. Google found me several examples (Yahoo!).

Here, lemme Google that for you...

A 'Duck Thru' (plural: Add an 's' to make 'Duck Thrus') looks like a small, drive-through store that sells milk, bread, ice, beer, sodas, etc. (A similar chain on the Outer Banks of NC is called 'Brew Thru')

Not sure why Acorn Hill Rd or Hobbsville is important...

Ahhh. That brings up an interesting question. Were they only robbing 'Duck Thru' stores, or is Duck Thru a generic term for convenience store in that part of the country?

Gates County, NC. That's getting pretty rural.

It's where the "three Rs" taught in school are "reading, ritin', and the road to Richmond."

Regarding the "Duck Thru" connection, robbers probably knew a flaw in the cash handling/security of the chain and was targeting that. Now they are dead. Ha, suck it criminals.

Something arterial, but didn't stop his stride. A quarter mile, bleeding, filled with adrenaline in street clothes...maybe a minute and 30 seconds to think until he dropped. But a punk like that, pistol whipping clerks, good chance he didn't have any regrets.

The stores are named after the owner (or former owner) James "Duck" Harrell. I think his son Michael owns them now. They have stores in southeast VA and northeast NC.

Maybe if you made some statement that encapsulates what you imagine to be the relevance between gun regulation and this incident, the "anti-gunners" could react to it. Some people don't like torture the facts of every story to make it into an issue so they can shoot their mouths off about it.

Did he buy the gun from an unlicensed dealer at a loophole gun show yesterday? Was it an assault rifle of some kind that would have been banned under Brady? You know. Something like that.

That second version of the story made more sense. In the first (submitted) version, they found the gut-shot guy had run a quarter mile from the store. The second version has him dropping and dying at about 150 yards.

A few are offering commentary on the forum at the news website. Evidently, the deceased criminals were "good kids".
