Let's not give them too much credit here- So far as I'm aware, the PAC still has every intention of using this angle. All the Convention did was set up plausible deniability ahead of time. That way they get the benefits of an attack ad, but manage to avoid any possible backlash from it. After all, they cut ties with the group months before! I'm all for giving them strategy points, since it IS a good plan, but let's not pretend this was altruistic.

Because they know that's a losing battle. If you start attacking Wright about what he said, people are going to start asking why he said what he said, and that does not make the GOP look good.

Of course they did. The "leak" was the release, and injected Wright into the campaign discussion.

They are not co-coordinating their efforts. You know that thing we were told Super-PACS were not legally allowed to do but now it seems is fine?
