Ugh. I have no rational reason to fear a Pacers thrashing, but I fear a beatdown. Go Indiana. You're the most boring state ever, but I grew up there and am compelled to root for some of your teams.

The power of Duncan face will power the Pacers by the Heat.

Wade bricks at the line yet again. Shouldn't a SG be automatic from the line?

After the whining the Heat have done the past couple days I'm going for the Pacers.

Dr. Hibbert needs to be huge tonight. Not off to a great start.

When the first star professional basketball player comes out, will the other players still lovingly caress his hands between free throws? Like they do the non-gay players? I was thinking how gay it was that they seek out skin-to-skin contact so often while on the court.

Wade seems to have forgotten how to dribble - he's lost his own dribble multiple times every game with no pressure on him.

There you go Dr. Hibbert. If they're not falling might as well force some fouls.

Some nice inside out play from the Pacers. Still don't give them much of a shot if they're getting out rebounded by the Heat.

CLIP YOUR NAILS, HANSBROUGH.

/it shouldn't have been a flagrant because Hansbrough also elbowed his own teammate in the face on the play to even it out

That was an absolute joke just like Wade's flagrant 1, which should have been a flagrant 2.

2012-05-22 08:54:57 PM
If the first one was a flagrant 1, that was clearly a 2. Haslem wasn't even going for the ball.

2012-05-22 08:54:57 PM
Wow. Hans Bro got a shiatload of ball on his, though he probably deserved the flagrant. And the refs really need to eject Haslem. Because I'm a Pacers fan.

Nothin' really, just playoff fouls on both ends that got called flagrants and Pacers fans want Haslem ejected because it makes it easier on their team. No real confrontations/potential fights, even.

/just like the first one shouldn't have been a flagrant, you can't call a flagrant 2 on anyone for hitting Hansbrough in the face - he just has a face you want to punch

Just a flagrant. The announcers were pretty justifiably calling for a 2 on Haslem, but that doesn't take away from their overall dipshiattiness.

It's only of those where there is enough to justify it, but not fully blatent. Basically, it's a regular season 2, playoff season 1. If it is a player with a history, it is also probably a 2

2012-05-22 08:59:49 PM

Pacers are getting run over

2012-05-22 09:54:33 PM
5 on 4 with Wade in the stands. Massive advantage insdie.

What to do? Jack up a three.

2012-05-22 09:55:23 PM
You have a 5 on 4 so......chuck an three

2012-05-22 09:55:28 PM
It's a good thing Wade's getting all the and-1s, since he can't make FTs.

2012-05-22 09:55:47 PM
Wow. That was a ridiculous trick shot by Wade.

2012-05-22 09:56:15 PM

When your other play seems to be "lob it to a defensive player and watch them dunk in transition," I can't blame 'em.

Heat are just stylin' all over them now.

2012-05-22 09:57:34 PM
The Heat continue to pour it on tonight. Then, they slack off and assume the Pacers will give in. In Indiana, the Pacers will rebound and clobber the Heat after Wade and/or LeBron have an off night.

Game 7 goes to the Heat as they realize they cannot lose this series.

2012-05-22 09:59:34 PM
I love how the Heat players always put their hand up when a whistle blows just to remind the refs to call fouls on them instead of Wade/James

2012-05-22 09:59:43 PM
What did they do to the Pacers in the locker room at half time? Usually you can point to great coaching and adjustments when one team dominates right after the half but I'm not sure Spo has the chops. I suspect foul play.

You could kind of see this coming. Reminds me a bit of that OKC/Lakers series from a few years back. The one Artest won at the buzzer, am I remembering right?

Hard foul by West on LeBron?

West falls down, LeBron stays up.

You might want to improve your hard fouling.

Oh, FFS, get off the suspension crusade. Hitting a dude in the face with your open hands isn't as dangerous as an elbow to the neck.

Someone should punch Hansbrough in the face again for that celebration of a potential and-1 with his team down 19 in the 4th quarter.

What's this I see? LeBron actually getting rest in the second half? Uh oh.

The Thunder (especially Harden) get more bullshiat calls than even the Heat. The WCF could be interesting.

Other than that, the Spurs are ridiculous, and they've got the best coach left by a mile which always helps.

Yeah, 60% to 34%...not gonna work out well for the 34% team. Especially if they're also getting outrebounded by 14.

Dammit Chalmers, I know that you want to get fancy, but you had a free layup, just hit it. Don't practice doing dumb sh*t.

Pacers fouls: 21

Yeah, that was clearly the problem. That one extra foul was 30 points and 15 rebounds of difference, especially with no one being in foul trouble all game.

It's pretty ridiculous that Pittman didn't get a Flagrant 2. It obviously wouldn't have made any difference, but that was just a cheap shot. Haslem, eh. Maybe he should have but (a) it's Hansbrough and ... well sometimes that's enough.

Yeah, but as I said earlier, suspend Pittman for the rest of the playoffs for all anyone cares. And I kinda think it should be slightly lessened because he DID get him in the neck (when it was retaliation for giving the choking sign). I reward accuracy.

When I saw more of the Haslem foul, it really does look like Haslem's just chopping down on the shoulder more and happens to get some face, rather than what I initially thought, which is both hands were going for the face.

And like you said, it's Hansbrough - if you don't want to get hit in the face, don't look like Hansbrough.

If Haslem and Pittman don't get playoff suspensions, I expect the Pacers will take Bird's criticism to heart, and get their justice on the court. And that likely means James and/or Wade on crutches.

Not endorsing it, just sayin', if the egregious fouls aren't dealt with appropriately, the players find a way to sort it out.

what exactly had they done to deserve an elbow in the throat? a little trash talking? calling a choker a choker? running your mouth on or off the court shouldn't result in attempts to cause serious injuries. that was cheap and dirty, but considering that it's wade's team that's not surprising.

Wrap your hands around your neck, get a reason to do it next time you're on the court.

Bring your arms down on a guy and cut his face with your fingernails, get arms brought down on your head next time you take a shot.

I'm sorry, you can't be throwing elbows, trying to flex on guys after fouling 'em like Granger, finishing fouls on a team's best players, etc. and then whine when people do something back. And sure, a bear ripping your head off is an excessive retaliation to you repeatedly poking him, but I'm not going to blame the bear for doing it. You wanted the physical series. You wanted to push the limits. Don't b*tch when it comes back around on you.

Keep crying, just like your team.

Cry about how the Heat flop too much so hopefully the refs won't call your physical team for fouls. Cry about how you're "not going to back down" like anyone was even bothering to step to you. Granger initiated every one of those. The Pacers are acting like little men - keep taking offense to things that don't exist and trying to goad players that are better than you into fights, then get upset when they respond.

I've run into gutless players like that all the time on pickup courts. They're clowns and no one likes them. They go shoving people all the time because they don't have the talent to play with 'em and usually they get away with it because hey, if you're talented you can't afford to get ejected for retaliating.

You don't get to push and push and then cry to your mom when someone hits back.

The overriding point is that Hansbrough was the only one who was trying to make a play on the ball. The other 2 fouls were retaliatory, and ever since the playground days, one knows that the kid who hits back is the one who gets punished.

what he did is illegal in football. that was straight throwing an elbow without the ball in play. then after the game the heat pulling the "we don't want to see anyone injured" bullshiat. shiat the next time wade came down the lane pacers should take his head off and then just say "we don't want to see anyone injured." it was a punk-ass biatch sucker elbow. it has no place in basketball. and it turns out lebron is a choker. if james doesn't miss the freebie, stephenson doesn't have a reason to give him the choke sign. if you don't want folks giving you the choke sign when you are the best player in the nba, don't farking choke. the heat are playing bush league and should be ashamed of themselves.

Because missing a FT in the first half of a playoff game is choking. Maybe talentless hacks that can't even get on the court shouldn't be the ones talking trash.

A Fark Handle: shiat the next time wade came down the lane pacers should take his head off and then just say "we don't want to see anyone injured."

The Pacers have already injured one player (unintentionally, but still) and drawn blood on two more. And it's not like Wade was even in the game - if Pittman and Stephenson are in the game, that means that anyone with talent is off the court. No one is going to miss either of those chumps.

If the Heat targeted a talented player instead of the specific chumps who asked to be hit, then hey, go after their players. But since they targeted the specific people who earned it, no, there's no reason to do anything.

A Fark Handle: that was straight throwing an elbow without the ball in play.

The ball was in play - why the hell do you think Stephenson was running into the lane?

Funbags: Good article on the 3 egregious fouls

It's a bit of an overreaction on Haslem's, Hansbrough got some of Haslem's forearm in his face, but it wasn't two hands to the face, it was two hands toward the shooting arm shoulder and a face-graze with a forearm. If Haslem was aiming for his face, he certainly could've slammed it if he wanted to. And again, it's Hansbrough. He should be getting hit in the face every game out of principle.

IAmRight: But since they targeted the specific people who earned it, no, there's no reason to do anything.

earned it? so taunting a missed freebie earns you an attempt at serious injury? and yes, a running forearm/elbow to the throat/jaw/head is clearly an attempt at serious injury. after all, if you kill the head...

You can make a play on the ball without hitting someone in the head with your followthrough, but by swinging his arm straight down instead of just extending it going for the block he pretty much guaranteed he was going to hit Wade over the head. It definitely wasn't accidental contact. The Haslem one was a little worse because it was retaliation, but I don't think either of those two were really dangerous. The Pittman foul was dirty as hell and should draw the kind of suspension usually reserved for the Lakers.

I don't think Pittman's bright enough/old enough to consider that something that would cause a serious injury. When you're in your early 20s, serious injuries from things like that don't really come to your mind.

And hey, now Stephenson has a reason to grab his neck and act like he's choking. That's perfect retaliation. Pittman needs to be done for the playoffs for what he did, but yeah, Stephenson earned it.

I don't have a problem with retaliation - I think you should be allowed to retaliate, get the same penalty, and then everyone can move on.

Pittman is a d-bag and his sh*t was unnecessary and dangerous, so he should be suspended for a nice, long while. But it's still kinda funny.

I disagree. I want to watch sports, not elbows and stupid posturing. If you allow retaliation guys keep retaliating. If you punish it more than the initial infraction you cut the problem off at the beginning. The best way for the Heat to get back at Stephenson and Granger is to demolish them on the scoreboard, not have Pittman elbow them in the neck.

you have pee hands: If you allow retaliation guys keep retaliating.

Nah, the Hansbrough/Haslem thing was over as soon as Haslem got his shot in. He got the guy he was supposed to get, he did it in a way that wasn't going to injure, and he did it almost immediately after.

you have pee hands: The best way for the Heat to get back at Stephenson and Granger is to demolish them on the scoreboard, not have Pittman elbow them in the neck.

I doubt the Heat had Pittman do that. The wink, to me, indicates that he thought it was the right thing to do - the problem is that he went way further than appropriate and it was two games later (because both players pretty much never play).

But that's also part of the difference between being a vet and being a young clown - Haslem's been around long enough, that you know precisely what he was doing, you know that ends it. It wasn't out of anger, it wasn't out of frustration, it wasn't out of trying to prove anything. The Stephenson thing was already ended by Howard when he went and confronted him before Game 4. Pittman just threw more logs on the fire there.

So to be clear, when I'm talking about retaliation, I'm talking about Haslem's foul, not Pittman's. Pittman's wasn't retaliation so much as flexing nuts like the Pacers have been trying to do.

Yeah, but you've got guys like Pittman who just don't get it. There's probably at least a couple on every team, and sooner or later someone gets Kermit Washingtoned. It's a given that officiating is going to be a little inconsistent since they're human, so I'd rather them err on the side of punishing deliberate hard fouls a little more than they need to than go soft and risk seeing guys get injured by dirty play.

I doubt the Heat had Pittman do that. The wink, to me, indicates that he thought it was the right thing to do - the problem is that he went way further than appropriate and it was two games later (because both players pretty much never play).

Coach_J: IAmRight: So to be clear, when I'm talking about retaliation, I'm talking about Haslem's foul, not Pittman's. Pittman's wasn't retaliation so much as flexing nuts like the Pacers have been trying to do.

Let me be clear...you are clearly the biggest idiot on the Sports tab without question.

LOL, this guy's mad.

There's no more recent NBA thread that I see so... DPOY Tyson Chandler is 2nd team all defense, and Iguodola who was picked for the Olympic team solely because of his defense didn't make either team. Great job, voters!

you have pee hands: Yeah, I'm sure it was Pittman's own doing, but it's still dumb as hell. You're up by 35, more of a statement are you trying to make?

Hey, no one's arguing that it wasn't dumb as hell.

WhoIsWillo: So being a tough guy smart ass is only acceptable when your anonymously insulting strangers on the internet?

Yes, because I don't consider you guys to be people. I'm just talking to a wall of text. Hell, you're one of the first people I've argued with on here that even actually had a profile filled out, now that I bothered to check.

Coach_J: Let me be clear...you are clearly the biggest idiot on the Sports tab without question.

Well, you certainly have made a valid argument while presenting solid facts to back up your opinion.

IAmRight: Keep crying, just like your team.

You're the one crying and losing your shiat. Can't believe you would defend such dirty ass play, you lose credibility daily. Really now, defending two players that deserve to be suspended? I hope the Pacers fark em up tonight, I'd bet you'll complain when they do it though.

Iggy made the US team primarily because he was arguably the 2nd best player in the entire 2010 world championship tournament (this was of course primarily due to his defense. He shut people down. Held a guy averaging 21 a game to 4).

I'd probably go Rondo, Wade, Iggy, LeBron, Chandler for 1st team D, without thinking about it too much.

A Fark Handle: IAmRight: WhoIsWillo: There a line between physical play and outright assault. The Heat crossed that line last night.

Oh STFU with the assault bullsh*t. Was it excessive and Pittman should be suspended? Yeah. Did Stephenson ask for it by being a punk-ass b*tch? Yeah.

what he did is illegal in football. that was straight throwing an elbow without the ball in play. then after the game the heat pulling the "we don't want to see anyone injured" bullshiat. shiat the next time wade came down the lane pacers should take his head off and then just say "we don't want to see anyone injured." it was a punk-ass biatch sucker elbow. it has no place in basketball. and it turns out lebron is a choker. if james doesn't miss the freebie, stephenson doesn't have a reason to give him the choke sign. if you don't want folks giving you the choke sign when you are the best player in the nba, don't farking choke. the heat are playing bush league and should be ashamed of themselves.

charles, is that you?

Is there a game tonight?

The ball was in play - why the hell do you think Stephenson was running into the lane?

the ball had gone through the hoop. the ball was for all intents and purposes dead.

Danny Granger getting in peoples faces after the whistle is a little different than elbowing someone in the throat. It was a punk move and, as someone pointed out earlier, you are up 35 you dont need to resort to cheap shots.

Whoops, misspoke, the Celtics/Sixers game is tonight. Thought they had a back to back for some reason but I guess that wouldn't make sense since they have to travel.

TheJoe03: Really now, defending two players that deserve to be suspended?

Um, I said Pittman deserves to be suspended for longer than he got suspended (unless the Pacers win both games, then I suppose 2 games is less than 3, but it's not like the regular season opener matters at all).

Haslem's wasn't that big a deal, but surprise surprise, the league overreacts because everyone was talking about how horrible it was. But the league is totally in the tank for the Heat, which is why fouls have been pretty much even this whole series, they made sure there were suspensions, etc.

A Fark Handle: the ball had gone through the hoop. the ball was for all intents and purposes dead.

Yeah, the ball goes through precisely as he made contact. It's not like it was after the play was over. Yeesh, at least represent events accurately.

TheJoe03: You're the one crying and losing your shiat.

Right. Keep telling yourself that.

Just weird to see you go out on a limb to defend anything the Heat do and then lose your shiat on people that call you out for it. You sound like the one whining.

2012-05-23 08:43:33 PM

IAmRight: Pittman is a d-bag and his sh*t was unnecessary and dangerous, so he should be suspended for a nice, long while. But it's still kinda funny.

In other words, when people see me post, they think this is defending a guy. That's how f*cking unhinged crazy you people are.

A Fark Handle: the heat are playing bush league and should be ashamed of themselves.

You're right - Even though every event was precipitated by the Pacers, it's the Heat who are to blame. If the Pacers didn't feel the need to flex nuts all the time, then there wouldn't ever be any issues.

Oh, and as for the LeBron should respond by not choking? Yeah, posting two of the best all-around back-to-back games in playoff history is a pretty good response.

I don't endorse elbowing someone in the throat, but I also don't endorse flashing the choke sign at another player, especially when you're not even talented enough to be on the court. I have no problem with a douchebag getting his.

/and if someone wants to hit Pittman, go for it.

WhoIsWillo: You do realize this makes you an asshole, right?

It means you take sh*t too serious.

Person complained about the Heat getting rough in a series where the Pacers have injured their best front-court player, opened up two cuts over people's eyes on the Heat team, complained prior to the series about flopping so that the refs would accept more contact, has tried to get up in both LeBron and Wade's faces after a play in every single game for no reason, etc.

If you keep cruising for a fight, eventually you're gonna get KTFO.

It's weird how everyone's totally okay with the Pacers doing all the sh*t they do, but when Miami (over)reacts, then they're being the bullies. Clearly you people have never dealt with short people before - the Pacers are acting like a short person, making themselves feel slighted to get an edge, and annoying the big kids.

I can simultaneously condemn Pittman and admit that it's pretty funny when someone who was talking trash gets their words/gesture put back in their face. If I'm playing basketball, I call fouls if I foul someone. I congratulate opponents on their good plays. I don't celebrate shots unless they're game-winners, and I only celebrate those like KD, because that sh*t's supposed to go in. People who flash choke signs and people who constantly talk sh*t are the most annoying people on the court and make the game less fun. And it's even more annoying (though it kinda becomes funny) when they're the sh*ttiest player on the court.

There's a reason no one was defending Stephenson after that elbow. Those people are sh*t teammates and the league is better off without Stephenson and Pittman.

Meh, go ahead and feel that way, it's not like you know me or you'll ever meet me. Your team asked for a fight, and when they got it, they cried about "they're sending scrubs for the hard fouls."

What, you guys thought LeBron and Wade would be dumb enough to get suspended when your little scrubs tried to start sh*t? B*tch please, none of your players are worth getting kicked out for. And BTW, Hansbrough is a scrub. So don't act as though anyone was attacking the players you have that are worth a damn. They've been left alone.

I dunno, I've never run into a person in real life (well, at least around basketball) that thought people running their mouth didn't deserve to get popped in it.

Not disagreeing with the gist of your post, but what Haslem and Pittman did was dirty. You can shove back in other ways but what they did was incredibly stupid and I'm glad you're not totally defending them.

TheJoe03: You can shove back in other ways but what they did was incredibly stupid and I'm glad you're not totally defending them.

Haslem did the same damn thing Hansbrough did except he didn't scratch his face. Not worth a suspension, he was clearly hitting his shooting shoulder and caught some face. Both Haslem and Hansbrough knew what it was and there were no other incidents throughout the game as long as the real players were playing. I don't think it merited a suspension - that's playoff basketball, as I've been told from being a Suns fan whose team never responded to people pulling that sh*t on them. My team never responded like the Heat did, and just took Bowen kneeing Nash in the balls, Bowen kicking Stoudemire in the Achilles while Stoudemire was dunking, etc. And they got f*cked because no one bothered to fight back.

The only guy who ever fought back was Raja Bell after getting elbowed in the face all series by Kobe, and hey, all that happened was the Suns started whooping Lakers ass after that happened. So yeah, I like when guys stand up for their superstars. That was fine.

Pittman did his sh*t TWO GAMES LATER. C'mon, man, you can't do it two games later, when the guy's already apologized, LeBron got revenge with two epic performances, and Juwan Howard straightened it all out in a pre-game chat.

Pittman should get suspended for the playoffs (and be out of the league, since it's not like he's worth having anyway). Haslem shouldn't be suspended, but that's just my opinion.

And I guess if West and Granger are feeling those twisted ankles, then it helps the Pacers have a chance in Game 6 with their crowd.
