Kathy: Who here wants to be an ad-man?
[several hands go up]
Emory Leeson: Who here wants to be a fire engine?
[everyone raises their hands, with several standing and commenting things like "Ooh, I do!" and "Me! Pick me!"]

I wish my dog would do that.

Every once in a while.

My dogs do this. they end up going on for about 45 seconds to a minute longer than the sirens because they trigger each other. i.e. one thinks it's time to stop but once she does she sees the other one is still going so she starts back up again. Repeat for the other one until they finally figure out that nobody's howling but them anymore. That, or I storm into the room and tell them to STFU already.

My dog does this. From up to a half mile away. Also tornado sirens. It's not that awesome.

My childhood dogs did the same thing. It was freaking awful. Ugh.

It's funnier when it comes from a little dog, like mine.

Really? A dog who howls at sirens?? Good thing this wasn't recorded in my neighborhood, the other 30 dogs that live nearby would drown him the freak out. There's a fire station 3 blocks away from my house and I don't even have to hear the sirens to know when they leave on a call. Every dog on my blocks answers the fire truck's call. And on Wednesdays when they test the emergency siren.......

Then you will have eggs thrown at your house.

Heh, we used to have a parrot that did the most amazing imitation of an old-time telephone that could possibly be done without metal parts. He also used to get on the ground and yell "Here kitty, kitty!"

Question for you: did your birds humongous balls hinder his ability to walk?

LOL, I forgot. He also used to do the sound of a can opener before he'd call the cats. That bird could break a 3/8ths inch dowel with his beak. The cats learned he was not to be trifled with.

My beagles would hear the sirens and would sit next to the bed waiting for me to tell them they could come up.

They would do the same during thunderstorms. Lightning and there would be the silhouette of 2 beagles next to the bed looking up.

Good God, that's annoying. I hate barking dogs.

Dogs making that "rum rum rum" sound is the funniest thing ever. Our family had an Australian Sheepdog that didn't like to bark, but would make funny talking sounds like that. 'Twas awesome.

My dog only ever did this once. Now she'll perk up when she hears them, but she doesn't howl. Since it only happened once, it was cute. If it happened every time a siren went by, it would be super annoying.

My dog does that to little kids. She doesn't actually want them to come over, but she seems to get a kick out of watching them run around and play as long as they keep their distance.

/ if they do come over she just hides behind us like a wussy

Ditto. A friend of mine actually called my dog a "pussy" because it wouldn't bark back at the neighbors' yapping dogs. He's never owned a dog.

I love the half-assed groan at the end of each howl.
