Richard Roma: Zerochance: If Romney loses, I guaran-damn-tee you the GOP base is going to blame it on not having a candidate that was "conservative enough" and everyone that endorsed him is suddenly going to have a big target on their backs.

And I consider that to be the absolutely best thing about Obama getting reelected. It will probably spark outright civil war between the crazies and the dwindling moderates. Either the crazies would win and the party would become marginalized and irrelevant, or the sane types would kick the freaks to the curb and move the party back to moderation and respectability.

I wonder how it would play out for Michelle Bachmann. Definitely part of the crazies, but reluctantly endorsed Romney. I wonder if that alone would mean she's failed their purity test.

That and her dual citizenship, of course.

It's happening right now, simply because the Republican Power Holders want Romney and don't give a shiat about the Base, who is fuming and trying to find a way to contain their anger that their little purity test means nothing to those who hold the money. All this talk about Ron Paul is just the Base trying to find some way to lie to themselves about how much the party doesn't really respect them.

NateGrey: Please be Palin, Freepers will be on cloud nine.

If they are happy America will be happy, right?

Maybe that poor glittery eagle can finally stop crying anyway.

WhoIsWillo: vernonFL: The call is coming from inside the house!

I don't know why, but this cracked me up way more than it should have.

I cracked up at the implication that the phone was unplugged but kept ringing.

I'm not so sure. The crazies have carefully constructed a bubble that reality can't penetrate, and there are a LOT of them. (Voters, I mean. The crazy candidates are a symptom, not the cause). As long as half the country believes things would be so much better if the crazies just doubled down again, and they will as long as the reality bubble is intact, I'm unconvinced there's a logical limit to how derpy the GOP can be.
