That seems to be an overreaction. Don't you have caller ID, Mr. Daniels?

"If I thought they would ask me via e-mail, I would have no choice but to throw my computer out of a tenth story window. Were they to come by postal, I would have no choice but to kill my mailman."

Sounds more like, just based on this, that he simply doesn't want to play #2, period. What he really thinks about Romney is speculation.

Can you imagine being the first republican VP nominee after Sarah Palin? The amount of digging the media will do after that shiat is going to be crazy.

Look, if you want to be really sure you won't be picked, unveil a big initiative making government better or helping poor people. Romney won't want anything to do with you.

A firebrand like Daniels would really have people on the edge of their seats for the VP debate. Must see TV.

Probably, but I always wanted to say a bunch of insane shiat on national television.

"The reason I am pro life is the same reason I believe in the death penalty."

"Tax rates are too high. We live in a welfare state! I propose we make the tax rate negative. The government should be paying US to live in this country!"

"Barack Obama promised us rainbows and unicorns, but didn't deliver. If Mitt Romney wins, I personally promise each and every one of you a pony."

"The reason I am against gay marriage is because I believe corporations are people. What if a gay corporation wanted to get married to another gay corporation? What if a gay man wanted to adopt a child with a gay corporation? Do we have laws for this? This creates all kinds of problems. Therefore, I propose we cannot allow gays to marry."

"Let me clarify my statement. I did not say I invented Bluray players. I said I was part of a subcommittee that made it a requirement to watch 50 minutes of previews before a movie could be played."

Romney should pick me. I would never use his name on the campaign trail and always refer to his as "Ya know, that damn RINO running for president".

Get the crowd fired up with supportive statements like "Hey, he can't be any worse than Obama! Woo hoo!".

And wrap up each campaign stop with variations on "Maybe you idiots should find a good candidate to run between now and 2016. Goodnight Cleveland!"

Despite your entire posting history, if you were to do this, I could give a moment of consideration to voting for you- for at least being principled. You've got that on Romney.

James!: Can you imagine being the first republican VP nominee after Sarah Palin? The amount of digging the media will do after that shiat is going to be crazy.

I dunno about that. Yes, it's a tough weird act to follow. But she was a relative unknown. And she kept the press at arms length. Someone more known and established probably won't have to suffer as much. Biden didn't go through all that when he was the one actually running against her.

That's my grandmother's lament. She'll die before she'll vote for the n*bong (and she uses that term in regard to him quite liberally). But she looks at Romney and the tools he defeated in the primary and says, "Four years, and this is the best you can do?"

Well, that, and her intolerance is strangely liberal. She's afraid of his Mormonism. And it's as groundless as her intolerance of blacks. It's foreign to her -- different and scary.

Mitt would be smart to hold off on making a VP decision until after he gets the nomination at the convention. Imagine if he picked a VP candidate that everyone liked more than him and the convention gave him the nomination instead. The lulz would be epic.

As a GOP politician, if you truly desire to one day be VP or POTUS, the smartest move would be to run away from this ticket. Romney's best move now is to find someone who is strictly wants to sell some books.

Couldn't it be possible for a VP nom to stage for the POTUS '16 run? I mean, as long as they can manage to not "Palin" it, and run a respectable VP campaign, then they could prove gravitas on a national stage and also solidify their place as "the successor". The GOP generally operates that way, this cycle is so anomalous and weird because of it.

Mitt's the closet to a successor they have in that he has been trying for a while, is a familiar enough name, and now properly old. McCain got it the previous round because Dick Cheney would have never run and would stand no chance if he had been so inclined.

So they have to create a new cycle to regain their rudder of choosing the familiar, white bread option. Jeb Bush would be the only other big competition since he has the familiar name... for what that may or may not be worth in 2016. So a non-disasterous VP run could propel someone to the spot they need to start out in the lead for 2016.

Obama has a different level of melanin in his skin and a slightly different bone structure.

Otherwise there's nothing wrong - he's been the best Republican president since Eisenhower.

No matter how respectable Romney's running mate's campaign is, he or she will be forever stuck with the taint of being on the "GET THAT N****R OUT OF OFFICE!" ticket.

And when they guy who actually said that (albeit with slightly more polite language) decides he wants nothing to do with that ticket, it's likely that the GOP has a bit of a problem.
