Between the kids and the cats, I don't think there's a spot on my couch that hasn't been peed on. We usually steam clean it really well and that helps. Not about to buy a new one until they get old enough to A) appreciate how expensive it is and B) have solid bladder control.

AverageAmericanGuy: It's a difficult problem. I definitely wouldn't burn it in the house.

Realistically, I think I'd have one of the housekeepers wrap it in plastic and call the interior designer about getting a replacement. Let the couch movers worry about taking the old couch away.

CSB: I used to do volunteer work for a local charity organization by picking up used furniture and clothing donated by folks. We got a call one day that this lady's got an old sofa she wants taken away from her back porch. We get there and she shows us the sofa. My partner and I lift it up and out come the rats. Big ones. We naturally dropped the couch and took off. The woman calls in and complains that we refused to pick up the sofa. We explained about the rats. She gets a call back that when she gets rid of the rats, we'll be more than happy to pick it up. Never heard from her again.
