Yeah you can guarantee Fox would scream for two days straight if Obama had, say, New York's SecState as a campaign staffer.

But he's gotten literally HUNDREDS of emails from his constituents, begging him not to put Farttimebongo on the ballot. Doesn't that trump everything?!>!111>!>?

This guy is trying to get his campaign's opponent off the ballot by holding two conflicting jobs. But don't worry citizen, the Republicans love democracy. Now pay your poll tax to the DMV and vote for the only candidate on the ballot, Mitt Romney.

Um, but in Arizona... the state hasn't gone blue since 96. And history's greatest monster wouldn't have a shot if he was on the ballot, so this seems like a great way to a) subvert the law, b) subvert the will of some people and c) be a total dick.

Yeah, but they tend not to use bullshiat debunked conspiracy theories to keep the opponent off the ballot.

Yeah, but one of the specific jobs of the Sec. of State is to decide who is on the ballot (and other ballot related things, like phrasing ballot questions).

The Secretary of State decides who is on the ballot.
A Romney campaign co-chair helps lead the Romney campaign.

It sure would be easy for the Romney campaign to win electoral votes in AZ if the other major candidate was off the ballot (as unlikely it is that it will swing blue in the general even with Obama on the ballot... and even more unlikely that it is that this guy will get away with keeping him off of it).

And yeah, it's been done in the past (Ohio/Bush comes to mind), but it shouldn't matter. It seems pretty unethical for the guy writing the ballots to be working for your campaign. Doesn't matter what side you're stumping for. There are plenty of qualified people to work your campaign who aren't writing ballots.

I try not to attribute to malice what can be attributed to stupidity, but even beyond a cursory glance this seems pretty malicious.

Which is true; however, the secretary of state is in charge of running and certifying elections. And in this case has been making threats to keep his party's opponent off the ballot.
