Not just cheese. This clock tower was 800 years old. The rest of it fell down in an aftershock.

Northern Italy was administered by the Swiss and it is really, really industrialized. Southern Italy was run by the Burbons, who didn't think much of the place, so it is more rural. Italy as a country is recent, as is Germany, usta be a buncha little countries.
