In my town there a a couple of grocery stores that actually have posetd spots right next to the handicapped ones expressly for "Expectant Mothers".

Once when i was feeling really snarky and "bad" I parked there and I had it all planned out that if anyone challenged me I would have to insist that they run in the store and get a pregnancy test to prove I wasn't pregnant. I didn't look pregnant, but, I could have been pregnant. I mean, I guess it's a nice idea and all to provide that for customers, but, at the same time it seems ridiculous to me. There is no reason why a normal, average pregnant woman would need a special spot. Suck it up expectant moms. The exercise is good for you. And before anyone goes all, but, but, what if there are pregnancy complications and shiat like that. In that case then someone ought to be helping the frikkin excpectant mom get her groceries anyway.

/I was pregant once. The day my water broke I was helping someone move FFS.

tartie_pants: OMG I just went there and within secs got all stabby. These must be were the asshats who yelled at me for parking in the mommy and infant spots go. Yes I parked in them. They aren't a legal requirement and I was going through chemo. You chose to be knocked up I didn't sign up for the cancer.

Not sure if you were feeling especially stabby with the commentary, as I went back and saw I posted probably one of her more sarcastic posts, but this is a good blog to go back to once in a while. Just... well, I try to skip the poop and birth posts as much as I can. However I love getting sucked into terrible restaurant etiquette posts.

bongmiester: she probably thinks being pregnant makes her handicapped

If she's in her third trimester, I'm ok with this.

/Handicapped

//Some worthless low-life stole my handicapped parking placard out of my car (I had the windows down about an inch since it was a hot day.)

She needs one of those motorized lifts to get her ass out of the car.

Nope.

A Rodney King-style beating?

YES.

To be fair, having parents that would name you "Kourtney" as part of a fun, naming "theme" should be considered a handicap.

nomorelurking: Suck it up expectant moms.

The target of your ire is misplaced. No one is forcing grocery stores to put those spots there, they are choosing to do it to attract expectant mothers are customers. It's a business decision, not a law.

many states issue temporary handicapped parking privileges to pregnant ladies.

Well. Like I said it's nice that the stores do that, but, it would also be nice if they had a space right next to expectant mothers for people with sprained ankles, broken legs, etc. Like temporarily handicapped people. What about them? Hey, why not go all the way? There were many times I just plain opted not to go in the store when a had a lame ankle for several weeks and couldn't find a close spot, but, being pregnant never stopped me. A little walking is good for the average pregnant lady. Not so good when an ankle or leg is broken. Hell, even an ingrown toenail can be very painful to walk with. The space for ingrown toenails can go next to the broken leg/ sprained ankle space. Then next to that we can have a space for people made of sugar so that when its rainy they won't melt.

All of these posts, and no one has said "stubby stole this headline from Bill Hicks"? Either Fark is slipping, or the typical idiots have finally moved on.

Yeah? So? She look in anyway disabled to you?

It's a douchey thing to do, IMO. Some disabled people need that room for negotiating a wheelchair. Which is kind of the whole, frigging point to reserved spaces like this.

Don't defend her. She's an asshole. If she's able-bodied enough to walk around and shop, she's able-bodied enough to park in a general spot.

Except, she isn't. She's a soulless twunt who has obviously been raised by a pack of wolves. She and the rest of her revolting family.

I don't view pregnant women (especially those in their last trimester) as handicapped, but some certainly become severely uncomfortable at that stage. Case by case, but I would give some pregnant women a pass.
