That's way too much trailer analysis for most people.

Didn't the Dawn of the Dead remake show off the first few minutes of the movie?

I had a dream about Prometheus last night and based on the events in that dream I can say with some certainty that the trailer did NOT release too much information.

*Spoiler alert* Harold and Kumar make an appearance during the last eight minutes of the movie.

The charts are all very nice. The total movie time used is interesting to someone, I'm sure. Left unanswered is which movies trailers sell out that movies plot points and surprises.

DNRTFA but I'd say The Amazing Spider-Man is the worst offender.

Prometheus Lands - Bad Stuff Happens - Prometheus rams the Alien ship ... and then?

They've even put "Prometheus rams the Alien Ship" on posters in some markets. If that's at the end of the film, we've been spoiled.

If it happens half way through the film, then we may be in for some substantial surprises.

I hope it's not another "Hulk catches Iron Man".

When in the history of film has a trailer or poster shown the end of the movie? at all? The trailers for Prometheus seem awfully spoilerific but honestly I think they are being more misleading than anything, they are fooling us into believing we know the story, but we probably don't know crap about it.

Also I'm pretty sure the trailer does not show footage in chronological order, what seems to be the plot might not be at all, and indeed the "alien ship crashes" event might happen in the middle of the movie, if not before.

This. Whey the hell did they include that in the Avengers trailer?

Because most of the people that make trailers are idiots who don't care if they spoil a film. They just throw in every "exiting" clip available.

Should've been the Hulk punching Thor scene instead.

Was it in there? I purposefully avoid watching trailers for films I know I'm going to see anyway. I tuned out during the Batman trailers before Avengers too.

All I remember about the Avengers commercials is the "Headcount" speech by RDJ

Quarantine.

1:18 of the trailer is literally the last scene in the movie.

Yeah that pissed me off. I tend to try to avoid trailers but it was hard not to see that promo for quarantine and by the time the final scene was setup you knew what was coming.

I also hate trailers that are set up sequentially. They pretty much tell you everything that happens in the first hour of the film and then a clip of the climax that tells you how it's all going to end. For a popcorn summer movie it pretty much kills most of the suspense.

I think Ive seen way more trailers for Prometheus than Dark Knight and a varity of more trilers as well.

SPOILER ALERT

Prometheus trailers don't show Michael Fassbender getting his cock out

The new trailer for Prometheus included a scene of Shawn and a "space jockey/engineer" being knocked down and attacked by a giant tentacles but it's been removed. Anyone see that?

I remember the stupid trailor for Batman Begins spoiles the whole movir for me. It showed right in ine clip plain as day that Bruce Wayne was batman.

It's tough to say till the movies come out, but I agree with you. It does seem like they're giving away a lot of the major plot points.

Chickflick movies are the absolute worst about spoiling the movie in the trailer.

I'm calling it now that Prometheus is tied in to Blade Runner, and that's why Scott is doing a sequel. The new viral Noomi Rapace snippet is clearly her being processed by one of the scanners that Deckard uses on replicants.

eh, a bit of a stretch to connect it to Blade Runner. it's not a Voight-Kampff test.

I'm only saying there seem to be some similarities - timelines would have to work out some way, but between that and the emphasis on androids, I'm seeing it.

I was lucky, and saw [Rec] knowing absolutely nothing about it except that it was supposed to be a good horror film. I watched the trailer afterwards, and couldn't believe they showed the end shot.

I turn my head when Promethus trailers come on, too much being given away!

Saw the Spider-man trailer at the movies. Looks bad.

Of course I'll go see DKR, but I prefer my superheroes to be super. Still, should be very good since they fixed Mumbles' voice.

God, Avengers rocked.

tdyak: Didn't the Dawn of the Dead remake show off the first few minutes of the movie?

Yeah, and that turned out to be the best part of the movie. I was totally against remaking it (I'm a huge George Romero fan), but the first fifteen minutes or so were awesome. Then the movie went bad. Too many characters (so they can be killed off), and by the end it turned into a video game movie.

eh, still seems to be a bit of a stretch and kind of misinterpreting what is going on in the link. The only real connection between Alien and Blade Runner is Ridley Scott, otherwise androids have been in other non-related movies.

it would be interesting, but I doubt it's going to happen.
