I watched god speak to those who did not listen. You must be there unless god has some other purpose for you. WHY is this you ask? I did not know. Nor will anyone know. This is my rifle, and you must get your own. Far be it from me or Jesus to tell you what is necessary to accomplish Boobies in that Africa by Toto. Get a job ya slob.

DON'T GO JUMPING WATERFALLS,
PLEASE, KEEP TO THE LAKE.
PEOPLE WHO JUMP WATERFALLS,
SOMETIMES CAN MAKE MISTAKES.

Sorry about the shouting, but, hey, sometimes ya just have something to say!

"The first rescuer lowered down and tried to swing to the boy, but the friction from the rock ledge cut the rope, and the rescuer plunged into the river."

Seriously? The rescuers do not know that you can put material over the rock (such as a large piece of rubber) to protect the ropes?

Yikes. What happened to that guy? Did he go over the second fall?

Thank god for the second rope.

From the ABC article they repackaged:

As one rappelled down, he tried to swing his body under the overhang. His rope, rubbing against the rock, snapped, and he plunged into the whitewater. Only his secondary rope saved him from going over the big falls, and he made it to shore with minor injuries.

This is one of the worst articles I've read for along time because of that. I really want to know! I can't imagine he was in a position where he was hanging over the side of the falls (so that the rope was caught on rocks) and somehow managed NOT to fall if there was only a 1 foot ledge...

Why do people wade into rivers near a waterfall? This sounds like an easily forseeable risk.

How did he make it to 13 at all, then? The dumbest 13 year olds are the one whose parents say 'boys will be boys' or '13 year olds don't have much common sense as a rule'.

Which doesn't mean they have full control over everything he does at any given time. It'd only take a matter of seconds to go out wading around, fall over and be swept away.

Story time!
Was walking along a flash flood culvert with my father. we were in the San Gabriel mountains above L.A. Cal, i was around ten yrs, and the concrete Was arrow straight for a good 150 yards, then started to slope downward until it just seemed to vanish in to thin air. He told me to hold back and he walked to the edge. He looked down, his whole body stiffened and he slowly backed away toward me.
"wow", i thought" thats gotta look cool to make the old man scared", so i start walking forward, he grabs me pulling me back. "What are you doing, are you crazy!?" It is a straight drop down, hundreds of feet, you stay away from there!"

Challenge Accepted!

As soon as we got back to where our targets were set up, Target shooting, i slipped away and went back to see what had freaked my dad out.
As i Got to the edge i saw the whole vista below me, hundreds of feet below was rocks and boulders the size of small houses. I then tried to back up..
I was wearing Jungle combat boots, with that very hard composite rubber sole, not much traction on concrete, and slipped over the edge with my back rubbing the concrete as if i was on a water slide. At the very last part of the pour, the concrete guys had left a 2 inch lip of unfinished spillage, I slid down almost in free fall, and landed on my heels on that lip, leaving twin skid marks on the concrete above from my boots, one in my underwear from fear.
I made my way over to the mountain side, shuffling from heel to heel, then climbed back up, and never told the old man a thing..
The point of this long and boring story? My dad sucked as a parent, as does this kids parents...Don't let your kids out of your sight a-holes, if danger is near...Kids are dumb,Parents like these are as well..
/CSB..Blaa blaa..Get off my culvert..

It really is. Having grown up in the 90s with the early 90s in particular being over saturated with New Jack Swing and R&B, I always took it for granted. I was playing CrazySexyCool in the automobile a little while ago and it occurred to me just how awesome it was.

And you know all that running water made him have to go pee even more while standing on a rock for 8 hours. Good thing he could go and no one would notice.

When I was 13, I decided it would be a GREAT IDEA to go on a moonlit bike ride down a dark road at 2 AM and see how fast I could pedal. Well, I *guess* the chain let go, or something happened, coz the very next memory I have is of me staring up at the moon, then looking down at my body which was COVERED IN BLOOD AND STILL SPRAYING FROM MY FACE!!!!1!

I don't think I needed a couple pints of blood after that (some late night people came by and saw me ambling around like Zombie #13495 from the latest creeper movie), but they definitely put me on something.

Yeah, my mom was freaked.

I have a son who turns 9 this year... I'm DREADING his teenage years.

Small ones, like this one, are far less risky. (Seriously, if you must chase a waterfall, chase a little one.)

That reminds me of a time when as a bright young lad of 16, I thought it would be perfectly fine to ride my bicycle home from a party drunk. Holy shiat was that a stupid idea! Needless to say I didn't make it very far before I was going head over heals down the pavement. Luckily I was to drunk to feel any pain.
