The comments after the story make me angry that I can't get off of this planet. How do people that stupid figure out how to use comment boxes?

pedestrian
a : going or performed on foot b : of, relating to, or designed for walking

Always yield to pedestrians.

I think Death Race 2000 covered this long ago

I don't want to make this sound like it isn't a big deal, but we've had two people in wheelchairs killed crossing streets here in Las Vegas in the last week.

I guess you clicked right after it happened. The comments there now are not so bad. What were they saying before?

Probably suicide by car. I'd kill myself too, if I were confined to a wheelchair.

No offense.

I was going to Mt Everest Indian restaurant for dinner tonight, and as I was making a left to get there, a man in a motorized wheelchair was crossing Sahara right in front of the center divider. I stopped to let him go, but was surprised he didn't get hit. He didn't make a beeline for the other side either, he was kind of zig-zagging. He was also nowhere near a crosswalk, and there was a ton of traffic.

Yeah, how would his "cousin" know who had the right of way unless she was actually there?

Did he look like he was going for a bus stop (Not familiar with that restaurant)?

Maybe he shouldn't have walked "right away"?

I've seen far too many people walk into traffic at crosswalks without even looking...
...as if a crosswalk was equipped with a protective force-field.

There are too many inattentive drivers around to trust your life to a couple of painted white lines.
You may have the "right away", but you'll just end up being dead right.

And now he's a blurry mess on the hood of that Ford. The police tried to get a more detailed picture of the scene, but found the victim was...

...puts on glasses...

not in Focus.

Came for the picture of the dude in the wheelchair who was stuck on the grill of a tractor-trailer for a while, leaving rather disappointedly. I only know of it from a Fark thread from however long ago...I'll try to find it.

That's the thing about Las Vegas that surprised me: it seemed like every week someone was always getting hit by a car. And if you were hit while not using the pedestrian crosswalk, it seemed the driver would never be charged.

I live in the area, and I see wheelchair-bound people crossing the highway all the time, or skirting along the shoulder. Always feared something like this would happen.

/also have a friend that lives literally 100 or so feet from that intersection.
