TheJoe03: You've been doing it for a couple years now, I've never seen someone white knight an athlete as much as you.

I've been saying that the best player in the NBA is the best player in the NBA and that most of the criticism can be shown to be without merit, and is largely borne of pathetic little-minded people who have never been even good at basketball.

LeBron playing some inspired ball. Given his pre-game reading material, I can now see why.

What book is that?

Indiana is not moving without the ball.

TheJoe03: IAmRight: The BEST PLAYER IN THE NBA should be able to win his conference, especially with a cast like OKC has.

I didn't realize that OKC has failed to win the conference this year, I didn't know we were that far into the postseason.

They haven't managed to do it yet with a better team than Lebron ever had.

They haven't won it yet. And if you're basing it on this year, then LeBron has done more with less this year than Durant has.

IAmRight: WhoIsWillo: James isn't even the MVP of this game. The Heat were lost until Wade started hitting shots.

Who was it who got Wade started?

The team trainer

Hunger Games.

Not that I expect the guy to be reading "Atlas Shrugged" or anything, but...

In Cleveland anyway

If we're knocking LeBron for shrinking in the fourth quarter (like last year), can we not knock Durant for not winning his conference (like last year)?

I mean, if we're going to defend statements by saying we don't know what might happen in the future...then LeBron could very well score 70 in the 4th quarter next game and shiat rainbows in game 6

Yeah sure, that's all you've been saying. I also forgot you were such a great ball player and that you totally know that my skills are lacking, since of course you've seen me play.

Don't get too unhinged on us.

No no no, we can only praise Durant and we can only criticize LeBron. It's the Skip Bayless way.

Not to mention that the Western conference is actually competitive while the east is pretty much a cake walk.

Oh, I wasn't aware Bosh was playing now.

Also, OKC's roster is, and has been, better than Miami's. If you don't think this, you're a moron.

2012-05-20 06:01:03 PM
Remember when Kevin Durant went nuts last year and willed his team to victory in Game 4 of the conference finals. He scored 25 straight points and 29 of his teams last 30 in the 4th quarter and overtime. He damn near died trying to carry his team to victory.

Greatest clutch performance ever.

wait...

bulldg4life: If we're knocking LeBron for shrinking in the fourth quarter (like last year), can we not knock Durant for not winning his conference (like last year)?

Durant not winning the conference in more about the team, LeBron shrinking in the 4th is literally an individual problem.

2012-05-20 06:01:22 PM
Mother of god, this Durant vs. James argument is f*cking stupid.

James is a more well-rounded player. Durant may be a better scorer, but James is 1B. James has been on SH*T teams his whole career. He's still got things to figure out, and he's already a terrifying competent player, including during the playoffs and the f*cking 4th quarter.

Arguing about how current players rank is kind of (no, really) dumb anyway. How many years did Jordan hog the ball before winning 6 championships? Give it up.

2012-05-20 06:01:51 PM
Everyone realizes that the Heat might have to go Knicks-Pacers-Sixers to make the finals right? I'm sorry but their Death Star will be fully operational when the West Con Champ arrives.

/dammit let them lose

We're talking about how Durant failed to make the finals last year are we not? Are you that stupid? OKC is of course a better team, that shouldn't be a knock on Durant. Jordan's Bulls had a better team as well, so what?

2012-05-20 06:03:09 PM
TheJoe03: LeBron shrinking in the 4th is literally an individual problem.

Which is only a problem in all the games where it doesn't happen.

Last year's finals (after game 2) and the last game and a half in Cleveland.

2012-05-20 06:03:32 PM
Well Miami wins, good job.

2012-05-20 06:03:37 PM
And that is your game.

Should have taken the 3. No one ever wins by just going for the 2.

If Lebron can take a significantly worse team to the Finals, I think that pretty much sinks your argument.

LeBron in do-or-die Game 4 on the road:

38 points, 16 rebounds, 9 assists, 2 blocks, 2 steals.

Choker.

BTW, if this is what it took for Haslem to start playing, someone should've elbowed him in the face in the locker room two games ago.

TheJoe03: I'm done with this, you guys love James, I get it.

I think he is an arrogant immature child that won the genetic lottery and has been given everything on a silver platter his entire life. He has never had someone say no to him.

Of course, none of that changes the fact that he is, obviously, the best basketball player in the NBA when considering all facets of the game and he has, repeatedly, done things to carry his team to victory.

He has also somehow forgotten how to play basketball and seems to zone out at times for no apparent reason other than when the pressure gets to him.

2012-05-20 06:07:48 PM
LeBron chokes in two more FTs.

40 points, 17 rebounds, 9 assists.

Choker.

2012-05-20 06:09:04 PM
To add, most of the "LeBron love" that people accuse others of on Fark is just people saying "well, what about all the times that he carries his team to victory" and "you know, it is pretty stupid to say he is a bad player".

I think he's the best athlete and has potential to be one of the best ever but your last paragraph is literally the reason I refuse to say he's the best player in the league. Dirk Nowitzki was literally a better postseason player than him last year. This year, I'm not sure who the best is, I think Durant. Being the best regular season player is pretty damn worthless in the end. He has the stats, that I wont deny.

You do realize there are other facets of the game other than scoring right? Lebron is so far ahead of Dirk and Durant in passing and defense it's laughable to even compare them.

Nope, clearly the only way to be great is to always make the game-winners yourself. That's why Jordan is so great, he always made those clutch shots, which is why he was undefeated in the postseason and guys like Paxson and Kerr never made crucial shots or anything.

I'll take my odds since I apparently have actually watched basketball more than once.

So LeBron played better last postseason than Dirk? Maybe you watch too many alley oop and dunk highlights.

Ugh.

I am in constant suspense as to whether or not the Heat will lose; that's my entire enjoyment of NBA anymore. And it's deflating when they win. Not as far from neutral emotion when they lose.

Or maybe I take a look at his passing and defense, and you concentrate solely on the offensive end. It's pretty apparent from what you've been saying all day that you either can't or don't watch a player doing anything but score.

wait, you've been talking about Kobe all this time?

all kidding aside, that term always struck me as misleading. no one says that Montana was the best NFL player, as an example. i'd rather have Kareem or prime Shaq as my C than Jordan as my C.

Well Jordan gives up about 6-8" and 30-50 lbs against most modern Cs, so I feel like that would be kind of obvious.

None of that is true. The fact remains, last year LeBron got exposed and embarrassed. He choked so hard, it was hilarious. Dirk on the other hand was an actual leader who had emotion and led his team, and hit shots when it counted. I didn't see him shrink once, and he now has a title to show that he outplayed him that series. To claim LeBron had the better series might be one of the most retarded things I've heard in the sports tab. I didn't say Dirk is a better overall player but he's the better postseason player, at least last year. That's my point, LeBron is pretty much never the best player in the playoffs, name a year that he was. Guys like Duncan, Kobe, Shaq, etc have all been better during LeBron's supposed reign. Get over it.

Do-or-die gets thrown around a lot, but if the Pacers walk away 3-1 from this game, I don't think the Heat are pulling out the series.
