Finally someone posted a link. He was one of the best baritones of last century.

I was rather expecting Fark to get hung up on Donna Summer.

So sad, but at least we still have Abe Vigoda. Wait...do we? I'd better check.

Whew! Still alive!

But seriously, this news makes me sad. I loved his voice.

She's his aunt.

Incidentally, everyone in Walkure is related, either by blood or marriage.

Thanks, subby, that was very enjoyable. Sometimes I need to have culture inflicted on me, but I always appreciate it.

Not to mention his recording of Schubert's setting of Der Erlkönig.

You can really hear all 4 of the characters in his performance. It changes between narrative, frightened, reassuring, seductive, and evil so seamlessly. Gets me every time...

I have this weird feeling that we might have known some of the same BBS folks back in the day. I was on Excelsior (West Haven). But I knew some people on The Day After, Captain's Cove, and others in the area. Good times. I vaguely remember seeing a demo of the original Windows at a party in Fairfield (Day After party, I think), and I knew maybe one person there.

This is the first I've heard of his passing. I've been meaning to listen to an album of his lieder for some time and I guess I should dust it off now and get to it.
