I agree that D3 is like the ex from many years ago: At first you're kind of curious when she shows up out of the blue, you meet her for a bit to see how things are and test the waters (the guest pass), you figure well whatever maybe give it a shot and invest some further effort (actually buy it) but then after a few more hours you start to remember exactly why she's an ex and cut your losses. The end.

I unfortunately started playing "Din's Curse" a few weeks back. There is no f'ing way in hell I will shell out for Diablo 3 when my brother beat it in a single sitting. Cue the "But you can play the same game but slightly more difficult 3 times!!!!" morons.

I do highly recommend Din's Curse though. It is vastly superior to Diablo 3 in every way except production value. Characters are more customizable, the game is more difficult, loot tables are better, and you can play it offline. Not to mention having the various races of monsters fighting each other and leveling up to whoop your ass and (if you are too slow/weak) invade your town and kill your vendors.

Was that a single sitting of between 12-15 hours? I assume so, because that is what it took me split over three days or so.

I assume you are new to the games because you could beat Diablo 2 at normal in 12-15 hours. The point was you replayed it over and over trying out different character builds and working to get better gear.

I am disappointed with d3 though, for the 500+ people or so that worked on it I would have thought the game would be larger, and have more reason to be replayed. The nice thing about d2 was there were so many different builds with the character classes, taking away selectable skills makes everyone the same except for gear. Random dungeons seem to exist only in a couple of spots. No pvp sucks.

I guess this is the result of a new team, and that team deciding that they needed to change what worked. Unfortunately that strategy usually gives us gems like Master of Orion 3.

Did anyone think Blizzard would make a game like they did in the past? Not after they decided to split Starcraft 2 into three parts and charge $50. I am having visions of EA all over again.

I really liked SC II though, there was so much more to it than the single player campaign. I have probably played 350+ hours after the campaign from just PVP and the tons of player mods that you access seamless through the client.

People have created some amazing stuff, there are warcraft 3 games with completely redesigned units and research trees, tower defense games, rpgs, action games etc.

I have enjoyed d3. Took about as long as it took to beat d2. Yeah the first play through is relatively easy but the difficulty certainly increases and I have far more "oh shiat" moments in d3 compared to d2. Plus boss fights are no longer "Well he kicked our butts lets just run in and die over and over again until he dies" and now well he kicked our butts...lets start over." So you actually have to do the fights. Fewer non-randomized maps is both good and bad, it was a defining characteristic of d2, but it was also annoying often times when you are missing the one little path somewhere, and more importantly there is no act that I dislike, (I am looking at you act 3 of d2).

Being funneled into only a few different skill sets because of viability is a little disappointing.

Similar with SC2, I actually enjoyed the campaign, it was a little short but I enjoyed it. Plus the biggest thing with SC2 is the multiplayer between the actual gameplay and the custom maps, Blizzard did an excellent job in recognizing that there is a large pool of people with ideas, time, and a willingness to create custom games for free as long as they are given the tools to do so. Blizzard gave them the tools and there are a lot of really fun custom maps out there. However for the next two releases Blizzard will not be able to ride on custom maps carrying their game, so I am hoping they do invest more into the single player aspect of the game knowing that the multiplayers aspect is in general set.

jeffdo1: Random dungeons seem to exist only in a couple of spots.

Then they have truly moved away from the original concept behind the game. Diablo was in part a take-off of NetHack, with the idea of having the entire dungeon randomly generated every time, except for a few very specific areas. Diablo 2, they kept that almost entirely.

Whats worse is how Canadians and Kiwis arre the most insufferable assholes there are abroad and whenever they do something bad they claim to be Americans.

/Once met a group of Canadians in Thailand who were drunk for 5 straight days. Told everyone they offended they were American.
//And then had the sack to say I was personally responsible for GHWB.
///fark you Canada. U so jelly.

No. And if it is even remotely true, it won't be true unless there's pictures posted.

I'll wager the girl in the video has never paid for a drink, nor gotten a speeding ticket. Ever.

What you said there (in bold) is actually not true. There are people who have been corpse hopping their way through everything including inferno mode Diablo.

Thanks, man. I know she is, and she's totally cool, and very intelligent. Nobody is more shocked than I that she's with me. Unfortunately we're rapidly approaching a tragic ending since I lost my job and I can't seem to find work in my field in this city, and she can't leave because she has a toddler with an airheaded douchebag from a few years ago. Sorry for the CSB, I'm just really down in the dumps over all of it.
